I hope you find a brand that suits you Debbie...i really do...there is so much competition than ever before and company after company claim they are better than any one else.....if you do decide for a brand remember the best skin care is FRENCH....well it is IMO....and i have said it before and i will say it again yes i am a snob:eek::lol:

However...having faith, passion and determination and drive is what an accomplished therapist will have in thier brand....whatever it is....

lol:lol::lol:

so which brand would you suggest if you could choose any (with a little budget!)

....If the right hand were handling the brand it so rightly deserves,it would be Academie....however the couple who own the distribution are IMO stand for everything the brand is not.....

However Academie has the technology combined with the science that gives it the results...and the treatments give so much to the client, tactile and exquisite, the client emerges feeling relaxed, and seeing thier skin transformed from the professional formulas used in the advanced facials, goes beyond dramatic results...

Yes,the big ones like Thalgo,Decleor,Guinot, which i work with are brilliant....Academie is understated, and is equally in the same realms as these companies.....i just love the ethics that Academie stands for.....supplying to the qualified therapist, and not diversifying is so important to me if i was considering a brand...

Ultimately it is down to you as a businesswoman how you market the brand....and marketing it is so important regardless of how well known it is...Believing in the product you use is so important, and clientele will come to trust you if you have the knowledge of the brand...recognising clients needs are more important than flogging something for the sake of it....any way i am rambling....

If you are on a budget though have a good look at Fleurs....

The Skincare Sanctuary.

This is the official distibutor....another reputable french brand that uses aromachology with proven efficacy results...relatively new....the artistry and packaging is to die for but then again i am a sucker for packaging...but having experienced a treatment in Paris last year....it was absolutely lovely....

Another lovely French brand is La sultane de saba....i think the opening order is under 800,if i am allowed to give figures....i have only used the body products but they were again lovely....i loved the sumptuous textures of the body lotion...:)

Let us know what you come up with Debbie:hug:

I'm with you there! I've always said the best skincare & make-up houses are French, probably because they take skincare & cosmetic science so seriously & have been doing so for a long time.

lol Martin. I know you love Decleor but unfortunately there are at least 3 other salons in my area who stock it, makes a change from being Dermalogica saturated I guess.

Is Switzerland close enough to France to count?!

And German, and Austrian, and Italian! Take yer pick!
A lot of drug companies are Swiss, and as I wanted a cosmeceutical range I was reassured by the Swissness of SwissDermyl!

Just to add to the Swiss/French debate it is interesting to note that Nimue although manufactured in South Africa state their active ingredients are sourced from France, USA & Switzerland. These must be the areas where most research and development takes place and/or where major pharmaceuticals are.

I agree the French do seem to have the edge on luxury brands - I trained in Payot and Clarins at college and loved them.

France is the leader in skincare, followed by switzerland and USA.
I am using La sultane de Saba as well, beautiful product and affordable!

g.lo

What do you think is the reason that you can't get people in for facials? I think you need to work that out before you invest in another new range, otherwise you run the risk of wasting yet more money. I use, and am immensely pleased with, SwissDermyl. I do about 5 facials a week at the moment, and I intend to increase that to about 8 by marketing and promotions. Facials are a very good way to increase your retail sales so it makes sense to increase the number you carry out.

I totally agree! plus what has worked very well for the spa I work at was when we first started out with facials we used the retail products in our treatment rooms for what we could and what wasn't available for both professional and retail we bought the professional ones. Saves the excess product being wasted until you get your clientel built up.

I never actually anwered this!:lol:
I would love to know how other people get so many clients in for facials.

Hi I presumed that you had lost interest in your products and that you have not promoted them as maybe you could do. I guess that is for you to find out. However I looked at your website - lovely salon by the way but I feel you are underselling the facials and the skincare. It could be made a lot more tempting. If you cannot sell a taster facial for £15 then it is not only about price - maybe it is too cheap or not alluring enough?

What about upselling to your clients, I have started off with clients just having an eyebrow shape and then progressing onto the skincare. Do you talk to them about it - giving samples - offering special packages?

What about emailing clients offering deals or promoting one or two products. I have recently started this and I have been amazed at how many clients I have accumulated. There is a lot you can do before you decide to chuck the towel in as other threads have pointed out.

I think it has probably become a bit of a vicious circle really. No one books the facials therefore I have lost my 'love' for the brand, perhaps blaming that rather than my marketing abilities.

Thank you for your comments about my salon:hug:. Any ideas how I can make the facials sound better? Most of what I have I simply re-worded what was on the Eve Taylor web site.:irked:

This pretty much sums it all up. Everything boils down to marketing - whether to get them in the salon in the first instance, or to upsell & cross sell once they're there.

Most of our phone calls from new clients booking in are near enough always for eyebrow shapes, eyelash tints or waxing. It's down to us once they're in to tell them about everything else we have to offer & to make sure as much as poss they have as many different things done.

I spend a lot of time trawling t'internet looking at other salons & spas websites, especially in the USA & Australia for inspiration.

When I first set up in business, I researched quite a few skin care companies. Many were very expensive and you had to buy the whole range with retail. I decided in the end to go with Susan Molyneux skin care. The company is British and the products contain natural essential oils and plant extracts and are results driven. They do a specific anti ageing facial as well. They will send you samples to try and also you can taylor the package to suit your budget. You can buy as little retail as you need. They are brilliant with their customer service and the training is fantastic. I would highly rate Monu as would my clients. I offer monthly offers on my treatments/facials, and with retail offer 10% off and include a £5.00 voucher off their next facial when they purchase a facial pack. This gets them in for another facial, and hopefully gets them hooked. Good luck withyour choice.

Hi Debs...

I must be honest with you....I don't think it's your products you know! I have changed to Eve Taylor from Thalgo last December and my clients adore the Eve Taylor products. Times are not great here in Ireland with the recession etc but I'm still managing to get as many facial as I did with Thalgo however I am retailing far more than I did with Thalgo. It really is all about the marketing you know. You should send out group text messages to your clients offering say '10-15% discounts on Fridays' etc things like that. Although the products are not as results driven as other products, they are very relaxing for the clients. They are starting to relase more results driven additions to their line now as far as I can see!! I think your better off putting the money you have saved into marketing rather than anything else Debs....just my opinion anyway...good luck to you in all cases! Sandi xx

Right, I've just spent some time on the Eve Taylor website looking at their new products and how they promote them etc. Maybe for now the best thing for me to do is to simply update my current products, re-promote them until such time as I have the money to go for a much bigger brand.

I also use the Eve Taylor range and have been looking for a salon near me to and have a facial but i cant find anywhere, which is good for me but i would like to go into a salon and pretend i dont know the range just to see how the therapist does my facial and explains the products etc - or is that cheaky?
