Hi everyone,

I have so many questions to ask I don't know where to start!

I have been out of the loop for several years whilst I had and brought up my son full time. He is starting school in September so I have decided to take the deepest and scariest plunge and open up a beauty and nail room from home, so that I have something to do for ME as well as adult company and the chance to earn some money and contribute to the household once again!
Product and polish wise, everything has moved on so much and there are lots of new things on the Market that I just don't know where to start!

I have read lots of threads already since joining here yesterday but am now more confused than ever as everyone seems to be very passionate about the particular systems and brands they use and lots of disagreement about what is best (inevitably as everyone's opinions are always different ;))
I want to offer clients the best obviously but I also have a tight budget setting up. I also want to ensure I'm maximising the opportunities to get people through the door and coming back in order for this to take off and be a success.

I'm already having a bit of a wobble about whether to do this at all as I'm a bit petrified TBH!! But in terms of what's out there just now, i.e Shellac, Gelish, Minx, Trendy Nails I'm feeling very confused about what one, if any, to train in and supply.

Is it better to just stick with normal polishes when you're a one woman show iykwim? Or am I better choosing a Gel polish to offer instead?

I have lots more questions to ask but will try not to bombard everyone too much!! ;)
Any help and advice about starting from scratch etc would be very gratefully received!! :)
Xx

Most def get on the gel train! No more smudging, chipping. ect. Go and get ur nails done and see how it wears. I personally use a soak off gel polish but everyone says great things about shellac. I found gelac to be a waste of time and money, and the minx and other nail wraps are big news at the moment. Maybe invest a bit of money doing a refresher or Product course, good luck if the Passion is still there it will pay off x

Two important pieces of advice from me:
1. Try it first on yourself so you know first hand how good it is (when you've decided on which system of course!)
2. Remember you get what you pay for. So it is sometimes worth waiting a tiny bit longer and buy into a system that is not the cheapest.

Personally, I returned to the business because of CND Shellac. It is perfect for me and all my natural nail clients that are fed up with how your nails are not so good when you get older (flakes, splits, etc.) and you don't have to wait for them to dry so no smudging and they are good for 3 weeks on 98% of my clients and me also (2 weeks on the other 2%). That's my opinion and advice but I am sure you will have more on here. Good luck x

Thanks for your replies :) Seeming to be that Shellac is def worth investing in and offering to clients.
Would you only advertise Shellac Manicures or should I get in some "normal" polishes too for those that might not want Shellac?
Will be searching on the computer tomorrow for some Shellac training and will look at S2 that so many of you have recommended on here to gauge how much of a dent in my pocket this is going to be!!!! ;) Lol xx

I offer all manicures but to be honest my polishes are gathering dust, no one wants a polish when they can have Shellac, and of course, it is priced in such a way that it make more sense to be 'Shellac'd' lol x
