Hi beauty geeks!

I'm a hairdresser, and no a little about skincare but not much.

As the title says, every time I get my brows waxed I get spots around my brows, they only last a couple of days, but are quite saw, and ugly lol.

Is there anything you recommend using to stop this from happening? I have quite dry skin, and normally use a lot of L'occataine for men's products and an Elemis post shave mask, but don't know what to use for my eyebrows. Help please! x

I'm wondering if it's a histamine reaction. I get spots all over my arms for a day or two after an arm wax. Everywhere else is fine after waxing though. It's quite normal for the skin to react this way and nothing prevents it. Sorry it's not much help, you could ask the therapist about it when u go for your next wax or even pop back and show them so they can advise better. X

Yeah I might do, just I go quite far to get them done, but if someone posted on here a problem with there hair, I'd normally advise to go back to their hairdresser lol.

I've never been allergic to anything before, my brows are normally quite saw a few hours after waxing but thought that was normal.

Next time I go I'll ask her, it's not a burning issue, just wanted to look perfect when they've just Been done haha x

does the therapist use a strip wax (wax removed with a wax strip) if so next time maybe ask her to use a hot wax instead, as this type of wax tends to just bond to the hair and cause less trauma to the skin, its well worth a try x

She uses hot wax, with a stick, like a lollipop stick, paints it on, then takes it off with a little strip, the spots have all cleared now, just wondering if anything I could use to stop it x

Hello.
Is it little white pimples? If so it is a histamine reaction.
The body sends white blood cells to the area to investigate and fix the trauma that has occurred (in this case the hair being removed)
It's finds there isn't any trouble and the cells go to the surface causing these little pimples.

You can try taking an antihistamine 20 mins before the treatment and applying sudocream immediately after (take some to your apt)
I have some on my trolly for these clients.

It's pretty normal and the more you have it done the less it should occur but if this is not the case follow the advice above and leave well alone for a couple days

Thanks for your reply,

No they're not white they're red, it's all fine now thanks though your your help :)

Just a thought - are you using products soon after the wax? Moisturiser or tan or anything? If it isn't a histamine reaction it can sometimes be that x

Instead of after wax ask her to apply Vaseline always works for me, I have a few client who always get spots after waxing..

I always get little spots after waxing. Have you tried Threading? It's ideal for more sensitive skins and I personally don't react after. Alternatively try Hot wax (without strip) as mentioned above

Just the after wax that she uses, but she does put concealer on to cover up the redness. I never normally wear make up so maybe it could be this

I tried threading and it was too painful for me! Everyone else says waxing hurts more, but threading was the most traumatic experience for me! They did look amazing when they were done though, just too much of a wimp, plus I like the girl that does mine now.

Thanks for all your help, I'll ask my therapist, see what she suggests for next time x

Normally the skin should be left free of makeup for 24hrs after waxing, unless the concealer is medicated/specifically meant for after waxing, maybe this is what is causing your spots x

I'd definitely not put concealer on after waxing any facial area. A nice idea but not recommended at all! Try it without this time and avoid touching the area as much as you can afterwards and hopefully that will help :) even if it means booking a late appointment and going straight home rather than a weekend or whatever. let us know the result! X
