I had my first spray tan done at lunch time today, it was a st tropez one..
It is perfect.. but because of my patchy arm, or weather it by the tan, i have a white patch on my arm like the tan stuff has sort of peeled away, i know it sound stupid, but like you wash yourself and your skin comes off, its like the top of my skin has peeled.? Is this just my patchy skin?
ALSO
Do I have to shower soon? I dont know when to shower haha,
And do i scrub myself when I shower.. do I scrub my patchy bit?
I have some St Moriz spray mist, will spraying that on my arm get rid of the patch?

hi there
first of all dont worry
after you wash the guide colour off the tan could be completely different.
if you had your tan done at 12 today, then you will be safe to wash off either tonight or in the morning, it wont get any darker keeping it on overnight (as it will have reached its maximum colour achievment after about 8 hours). Have a shower, then have a good look at your tan, then if you can, maybe post a pic, but definitley let the spray tan therapist about it. i wouldnt suggest scrubbing or adding any other fake tan at this piont, just get rid of the guide colour then examine the tan. if there is a patch where the therapist has missed then ring her in the morning and give her the chance to put it right for you if she can. if it is for a tan tomorrow night then if you call her early enough and she can fit you in then there would still be enough time to sort it out for tomorrow night.

without seeing the patch its hard to say but my first thought is did you exfoliate well or did some rub off? I would give it at least 8 hours before you shower then see if the patch has evened out a bit, otherwise I would be inclined to try to blend it in by lightly exfoliating. Id be careful trying to blend it in with St Moritz unless its a similar colour as you could end up with a big dark patch, see how you go after youve showered.

I'm quite surprised that were you had it done did not give you this information

Not one of my clients gets out the tent without being hit around the head with my aftercare leaflet lol

Then as they are getting dressed I'm still drumming away at them.

How's it looking since you've showered? x

I agree 100% can't believe that they let the client leave without the really important information regarding aftercare. I have come across this so often and despair of techs like that. Is it a case of quick money, once you are out the door you are on your own ? or is it that the client has an information overload and cant recall what they were told ? This highlights the importance of aftercare leaflets to be handed to the client as they leave.

Sound advice been given so far.

Post tan you should shower after 8 hours if not using a rapid tan, when you shower do not use soap or shower gel just rinse the guide colour off.

Pre tan you should have exfoliated the day before you tan. The patch problem you describe does sound like the guide colour has not bonded, which will almost certainly mean the DHA will not take in this area either. Did you moisturise prior to the tan. Moisturisers act as a barrier to the DHA getting to the Keratin in your skin and this is where the clever bit happens.

I have not long got off the phone with a girl that had a spray tan at 2pm today from a mobile tech using a well known brand. I have never seen her before but she called me to find out how long she needs to wait before she can wash it off!!!! Why ring me ? She never got told ANYTHING by the tech, also whilst chatting with her I mentioned that I will be offering spray tattos and she tells me she had a new tattoo done day before yesterday, spray tan tech never bat an eyelid, sprayed over the top of the scabby raw tattoo, no aftercare advice. Makes me wonder if I am doing it all wrong and if ought to just have the clients line up, chuck a bucket of solution over them, grab the money and run.

It makes me quite despondent that there are people out there who do not seem to care at all about the job they do, the clients they serve or the industry they are in.

I think I will be ringing the head office of this particular company tomorrow and "have words" they will probably just think that I am just a local tech unhappy to be losing business to their technicians though.

Rant over for the minute.LOL

Spraying a new tattoo??? ARGH!!! The chances of a serious infection makes me cringe!!!

I know and what makes it worse is that the girl is a carer so ought to have known better. Hopefully she is fine and her tan will be OK but it seems that every bad feedback I come across lately is from the same company. There must be a really "uncommitted" Trainer out there churning out "less than good" spray tan technicians:mad:

I have just spoken to "The Company" and surprise surprise. Not interested at all. Not even wanting to know which area this is happening in, nor did they seem to care that someone is out there giving their product and customer care bad name. In all fairness it might be an e-bay cowboy without any training but I was shocked that the spray tan solution company didn't even try to take any details so they could double check their trainer records and make a few calls at least

Best bite my tongue before I say something I shouldn't, but this has certainly made me more adamant about NOT using them ever.
