Hi Folks,

Been on to my Insurance company re upgrading my insurance to include spray tanning.

The girl on the phone said that all i needed to do was upgrade my insurance from Nail Tech to Beauty and send in my certificate. She said as long as I was trained and held a certificate that I was able to use any product under that certificate and that there was no regulation of the type of spray tanning machine that can be used.

Im sorry to be asking but does this sound right? its just the girl on the other end of the phone sounded so disinterested and vague that im not sure that I got all the information that I needed.

Any advice grreatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Sabrina

Hi there

Yes that's right, if you just have insurance as a nail tech then you are limited to just nail services. If you upgrade and then go on to do other courses in beauty, then as she says all you need is the certificate to prove you have done the course.

You are also right in saying that there is no regulation for spray tanning too....same as nails....which is thankfully getting there.

As there is no regulation, you can use whichever system regardless of the psi you are spraying at and the amount of overspray you are producing....it's not a requirement for you or your client to wear a mask and it's not a requirement to have adequate ventilation or better still, extraction.

I believe that some of the tanning companies are working towards a more regulated environment....but you can look for a company who care about health and safety and who highlight this as a priority in their training.

Being biased here....Tantrick are extremely pro health & safety and much of your training with them is dedicated to the health and safety aspects of spray tanning.

I have a home demo with Tantrick Monday morning - heard nothing but good reviews about the product!

Thanks for your help.

Ohhh I am also having training by Tantrick on Monday !!! They have told me that if you use their equipment and have their training you will be covered by Woodgates (Prof Beauty). Good Luck for Monday - let me know how you get on.
