I also agree with the above post - sell recommended retail products that your tanning company sells. I also use Dove and have never had difficulties regarding tanning.
 
For clients who cannot afford to buy retail products connected with the tan, would it not be possible to advise them just to use plain old soap and water prior to a spray tan. I'm no expert but maybe a baby soap or unperfumed one might be ok. The plainer the better, i.e. avoid soaps which promise moisturised skin as these may contain a barrier. Also if the soap/shower gel is rinsed properly would this not eliminate the problem?

Did u also know that dove strips the tans once they are applied.
