Hi all, I'm currently trying to build up my shellac kit to make a start as a mobile nail tech / spray tanning.

What are you staple shellac colours?

What colours would you suggest I need in my kit?

How many colours do you think I NEED to be able to give clients a good variety?

There are so many now! I'm hoping to build up as I go along but just starting out.

Thankyou in advance for any replys!

If you email sweetsquared, they'll be able to tell you their most popular colours.

My top two off the top of my head are wildfire and field fox.

Tropix, lobster roll, and water park have all been popular the past few weeks as well.

I'd recommend a red, a nude, a pink and French options to get started.

You dont need a massive selection when you're just starting out. When I started, I had four colours - one white, iced coral (im sure thats what it was called - sadly discontinued), tropix and silver chrome (I wanted to do rockstar on my own!).

Not the best selection, but the white and iced coral could be used for French, or either could be used alone, and then the tropix could be used alone or layered with the IC. So I had six options with 4 bottles of colour.

Hi I second the wildfire and field fox. A couple of favourites is tutti frutti and desert poppy.

I recently started up and bought the following colours (shown in the photo). I'm slowly building my collection.

It will depend on your clientele but wildfire, field fox, tinted love, masquerade, tutti frutti, Tropix and hot pop pink would be staples for me

I am slowly building my collection too!

I totally agree that you don't need lots of colours to get started, but to ensure you cover most options that people would want, I would recommend choosing at least one each from the reds, purples, oranges, nudes, pinks and darks. And definitely get French Manicure colours.

My favourites are...

Wildfire
Rock Royalty
Tropix
Satin Pyjamas
Hot Pop Pink
Fedora
Beau

I would get both Studio White and Cream Puff for French Manicures. If you only want to get one white, then I would say you are likely to get more people wanting Cream Puff, but it is good to have the natural white option.

I would add in Grapefruit Sparkle to the list - for me it is an absolute essential - It is great for lightening colours slightly and adds a hint of glitter. Grapefruit Sparkle also makes a really beautiful French Manicure option. Use alone or layer it with Beau.

Shellac can also be layered (there are lots of great videos on youtube about this) This will give you more colour options too.

I know you didn't mention this, but I would also highly recommend getting some Lecente Glitter. I am so hooked on them right now - they are really easy to use and look stunning - and the few I have got so far have totally expanded the colour options I can offer. You don't have to get lots of them. I recommend just starting out with Lecente Iridescent Rhubarb glitter! It works brilliantly on all colours. It is a really gorgeous pale glitter on light colours, but on dark colours (like Fedora or Blackpool) it is a beautiful sea green colour. So play around with shellac layering and glitter on colour pops and you will find that with even just a few colours, you will have loads of options for your clients to choose from!!!!

Thankyou all so much for your replies!! Such a huge help! :)
