Was nearly not posting this as don't want to put anyone off going back to salon.
But, need to get it out and a few opinions would be v welcome please:lol:
Have been doing mobile for about a year now (after long break from hair of about 12 years). Building up nicely and was a nervous wreck before every new client (losing sleep included).
Did 2 colour courses and one cutting course and found salongeek which helped no end.
Got a Saturday job end of August and roll on now 6 months and I'm still nervous as hell going to work tomorrow:|
Its a fairly big salon, v busy and I always feel a bit inferior to other staff even though I've had no complaints. Beginning to think maybe its not for me after all these years and maybe I should just stick with mobile (love my home clients).
Aaaagh any thoughts?

If you love your clients can you fit them in around the salon job? This will give you extra cash :))) and help boost your confidence knowing they love what you do.
Dont put yourself down and let others make you feel inferior. Go into that big salon, wow them with your skills and tell yourself you deserve to be there. They emploed you after all so they must think you are good. And you seem to have done plenty of courses so I'm sure you know what you are doing, especially if you have no complaints.
Good luck!!

Bless you!! Have you thought about speaking to your boss? You really have nothing to lose, if you are thinking you might want to leave anyway then it wont matter if you rock the boat a little, maybe see if there is another shift in the week that you could pick up so that you are there more often.
Chances are you will feel much better getting this off your chest and your boss will hopefully appreciate your honesty and offer to help however they can. Are they approachable?
Dont worry hun, your only human xx

Don't feel bad, if you were awful you wouldn't be there. Had any complaints? No! Then your good at what you do!!!

If you feel mobile is for you then go for it, but remember if your awful in salin the. Your awful at home, so what changed being mobile do you feel?

Write a list of good things, then bad, then compare, go through the bad and see where you can improve them.

But keep reminding yourself you must be good to get and keep the job, so that means you are good at your craft and deserve to be there just as much as anyone else! Xoxo

aahhh I feel so much better, thanks a mil xxx
I was offered more days but declined as I didn't want to be tied when kids are on hols. So prob my own fault for not getting more involved.
Boss is nice but very stressed out and always pushing to bring in more clients, sell more products. She knew I was out of scene for a long time and has been supportive, offering in salon training:) Think its just me, go through phases of feeling really negative about myself and it doesn't help.
I do feel more comfortable doing my clients at home because theres no rush and I can give them time rather than feeling I'm being timed for everything I do in salon.
Funny, last day I was there one of the juniors came up to me and said "xxx I could never imagine you having your own salon" I asked her why and she said "you're too nice" Still not sure what way to take that comment:)
Anyway, I'll keep going for another while and see. I honestly just focus on clients when I go in as don't feel 100% comfortable with staff.
Thanks so much xxx

I think that was meant to be a compliment, to run a salon you sometimes have to be unpopular with the staff and be hard faced. It just means you are really nice and would probably let the clients and staff walk over u.

Remember the day ur boss asked if u want more days. It says to me you are obviously talented enough for her to want you to be there more often to make even more clients happy. Xoxo
