I am in the same situation as you Louise,

I purchased a 'Goldwell colour remover' yesterday.

Im just worried, as so many people have posted on here, and on other review sites to say that once they washed the remover out, the 'dark' hair colour they are trying to get rid of appeared again and it didnt make a difference!

I hate using bleach to strip hair, and would prefer to have something that left the clients hair in better condition, but, I dont want the colour remover to not actually remove colour!

Even in the instructions, it says "If after you have used the remover, you find it hasnt made any difference, please re-apply with another lot of colour remover.' (Not the exact words, but something along those lines!)

I have been dying my hair since I was 14, black for about 5 years them dark purple and then red which I've been for about 15yrs now, i bought a cheap red dye to stupidly save money and followed the usual routine and it looked fab whilst dying, really red and vibrant but when I rinsed it out all the red came out too and I was left with BROWN hair, gawd knows how that happened but it was sooo normal looking and weird so I decided to redye it red on top but it just went mahogany colour.
I was toying with the idea to try and bleach my hair but knowing how thin and babylike my hair is I knew my hair would frazzle but HAD to get rid of the brown.
I found a hair stripper which explained it was totally safe, non bleaching and that it shrunk the colour molecules to a wash away size rather than bleach them, it also explained that blacks n vibrant reds possibly wouldn't strip out so at best I was expecting to go washed out peachy ex red, a good enough base to go bright red again.
I was totally amazed to go right back to the blonde of my youth, I had identical colour as my 3yrold lol.
I left it on an hour but would totally recommend the strippers.
HTH :)

ive been reading about bondi rae, sounds amazing! i ordered some last night i just need a guinea pig now ha ha

I've also just been reading about blondie rae and it sounds fab.

Re your post though I recently tried loreal effasor and thought it was great. I did bleach bath this client at the previous visit but didn't get the results I wanted. Thats not to say another bleach bath would not have the same results.
Was a bit uneven though!!!

I've also tried the goldwell one on myself when I tried to strip 77/45 off my bleach bonde hair and was left with a bright red strip in the middle of my hair!!!

If this blondie rae does what everyone says it does i'll be signing up for that!!!

Just be aware that while color strippers can be great they will only strip out oxidative hair color. They won't touch temporary color, so if your client isn't really sure what they've put on or you suspect they may be telling you what they think you want to hear then proceed with caution to avoid time wasting!

If you find that the hair darkens again after it is because the stripper has reduced the color molecules so they are small enough to be rinsed out but then you haven't rinsed well enough and the molecules then oxidized again over time, thus darkening again.

*edit* I also use the Affinage Eraser and love it, but if you don't have an Affinage stockist near you then the Risk Elimin8 is available at Sallys.
