Hi, Any help appreciated with this. I've been having various Wella hi lift blondes for years, have tried 12/0 12/1 and various mixes with 12/3. It's been ok at times but more often than not nowadays i just seem to end up with over whitened ends and brassy roots:D. I wan't something cool and creamy, really light blonde but not white. I love Cameron Diaz's hair when she has a lot of blonde in it or Naomi Watts. Would I be better trying bleach highlights? When i asked for advice once before a couple of people said I just won't get past brassy without bleach but i'm so nervous of it. My hairdresser has hi lift tint herself so she tends to advocate that but it seems that no matter what shade i try I still end up disappointed. My hair is level 7 ish, with a LOT of warm undertones. I don't know where to start with asking for bleach or how i would make the transition from a solid hi lift tint to highlights. My hairdresser is really nice but i feel terrible going back time after time saying the results aren't right as she's doing her best. Thanks! Nikki

you wont know unless you try. Bleach with a low vol is much kinder than you think, ask your hairdresser for this. If you dont like it, go back to high lift.
You shouldnt be getting white ends, as your stylist shouldnt be taking the blonde down to the ends.
Think about getting some decent salon shampoo and conditioner to restore the hairs protien too
hope that helped!

Thanks JoJo :) it's true that colour on ends is ok until it gets combed through but i can go for months not too bad and then maybe a different stylist, or my own not paying attention and they've combed it through again! I've got a good Wella Repair treatment which has worked well on the condition.
If i could just lift the orange tone out of the roots i'd probably be happy to stick with hi lift. Nx

Hi JoJo, Don't know if you'll read this but i just read in one of your other posts about factors that can change your hair's response to the colours, eg hormones, products etc. I'm interested in this as for me the Wella 12/0 mixed with one quarter 12/3 used to create a really nice pale gold blonde, looking back at pictures it looks great. But i'm now getting my hairdresser to do exactly the same thing and even though she's leaving it longer and longer each time i end up with an orange band at the roots :( I'm trying to figure out what's changed. I'm not aware of any hormone issues. I use frizz ease serum on my hair always as it's the only thing that keeps it in condition but the day before a colour i wash it and am careful to only apply product to the ends. I use l'oreal elvive shampoo but Wella repair treatment conditioner. Any ideas?? The only other major change is i've moved to Cornwall and using a new salon but they are using exactly the same colour with 12% Nx

I would use 15g 12/0 and 10g 12.1 with 30 vol, 40 vol can pull up the hair too much showing the golden undercoat more.use under heat for approx 35 mins. if still too warm finish with a toner or violet shampoo for 5 mins fudge do a fab one.x good luck:D
