Hello everyone, what a wonderful site this is!!

Advice needed please!!

I did my spray tanning training last night and my client has one white hand and one orange hand with strawks all down one side and on her fingers.

just wondered if any spray tan technicians have any advice on tanning over the hands? The lady got me to spray the hand for three seconds but I would appreciate any other tips.

I think it went tangoed as she had three applications of tan on as she was a model.

Hence I am now petrified on doing the tan on paying clients in case I TANGO them!!

Got four models in tomorrow and am really scared.

Yuk I feel sick! Please help xxx

Hey!!

Ok, this might help.
When doing hands, only mist a light spray over them.
Once, with the hand outstreched
Twice, with the hand in a 'claw' shape
Third, get the client to put her hand out, and then rotate it 90 degrees - so you can get at the thumb joint.

But I stress that each spray should be light, with you standing well back from the client.

TRy it a few times - you will get the hang of it.

Kisses and hugs!!!

Hi,
I called my first tan client the next day i was that stressed..it happens to us all.
try doing your own hands every week or so until you get the even coat you r happy with, always tan light..its better to be too little than too much.
I tan myself with my left and right hand its easy you just need the confidence...and no stopping you then.

im at spray tanning 3 years now and i know what it like it cn be nerve racking waiting for the client to ring or call compalining but great when they ring up happy to re book i find when doing hands get your client to make a "dead spider" and as with all tans less is more you can all ways have then back for a top up if they feel there not dark enough, go light on the driest part of our bodys like elbows, knees, ankles make sure your client has moisterized well if she has very dry skin so, on myself when iv over sprayed on my hands (i hate gloves)after a busy i use butter and sugar and scrub my hands with it, sounds crazy but it works for me !! a good old fashioned remedy and your hand are so soft after wards

Oh dear, I remember looking the same when I done my course. I ended up being everyones model. It was only when I got home and looked at myself in the mirror that I realised that everyone on the train back from London had been sniggering at me...I was well and truely TANGOED!!!

Its a good lesson in learning how much to apply! lol.

What brand of solution are you using? I find the best way to avoid orange hands and feet/ dry areas is to apply a light layer of moisturiser, especially on nailbeds. Only apply a light spray to the hands and feet (in reality how long does it take your hands and feet to tan compared to the rest of your body?)
Also with feet, the tanning mist falls downwards and tans them for you. Always keep a bottle of tan temover handed e.g. St Tropez just incase.
Remind clients to avoid contact with water for at least the recommended time for the brand of solution (and perspiring) as this can also aid streaks.

Happy tanning

Thankyou everyone, I have also just done my training and have so far tangoed 3 peoples hands!!! I will try all your tips.
