This is one for all the spray tanning geeks . . .

Whenever I apply self tan (I have used St Moritz, Laurens Way and am now on Sienna X due to getting some lovely samples) I always get darker knees and elbows.

I exfoliate before I tan, paying extra attention to these bits and I moisturise before I put the tan on but they still get dark. I see all these celebs on TV and in mags obviously with a fake tan but perfect legs and no patches.

What am I doing wrong??

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum!

Try applying a thinish layer of barrier cream, like aqueous cream hun :) x

I always find my knees and tops of my hands are the worse to tan even after a good exfoliation

The skin in these areas is a lot thinner so the solution sinks in quicker, using a decent barrier cream helps alleviate the problem but even then it is not foolproof. Hands, knees, elbows, ankles and feet are the worst

I just thought I was doing something wrong. You see all the celebs with perfect tans and no dark patches but I just cannot get it!

Will try harder!

Thanks for the advice xx

As already said these areas will grab more, I always use fakebakes oil free misitfer spray before which still allows tan t penetrate through to skin but should not be as dark, Also oil free moisturiser everday :D You will also always get a better result from a spray tan than applying a manual tan hth xx
