What tan is really good for when your doing a lie down tan

I'm guessing the OP means a manual tan?
Although I'm qualified to do this i don't offer it and I never get asked for it as it's much more time consuming, usually involves a pre-exfoliate treatment so you would need to charge more to make it cost effective. . I think it might be more popular in spas though?

I have never heard of it lol

St Tropez was the original manual tan and you can still buy the starter set from Ellisons I think.
It was a good treatment (before spray tans had been invented). Much more hydrating to the skin and no vapour issues.
You started with a face and body exfoliation; we used to then put them in the shower to make sure it was all washed off.
Then you moisturised all the necessary dry areas and applied full strength tan, massaging it in while wearing tight gloves.
Face, you did at half strength. At the end, you buff all the guide colour up so they look ok to go home.
There is a definite technique to the application to get it right.
There used to be a video by st tropez on you tube for the manual tan -it might still be there.
Some spas still do the manual tan as a more luxurious body treatment.
The colour used to last better than a spray tan actually.

I couldn't imagine any clients wanting them now. Spray tan being invented for the flawless airbrush, time convenient worker.

I agree that spray tan is definitely the preferred tan. I originally trained with fake bake manual tan and it was a lovely colour. I worked with san Tropez years ago and found it hard to get even and horrendous guide colour x

The only manual Tanning I do now is my own legs in the summer as they're never dark enough!

Same. I spray my legs twice for the same reason. I have only a handful of times done a manual tan on myself because I hate it.

Moroccan Tan’s Instant tanning lotion is great for doing a manual tan as it’s got a really dark guide colour. Make sure your client has done the usual prep
