yes you can chick as long as you have reciepts etc to back it up.
there is a time frame but i think it is years rather thatn months. Contact your local tax ofice and they will be able to explain how long it is

i did this, I became self employed 30 june 2005 but started buying things previous to this and it all went through. it's very important to keep all of your receipts and invoices though.

Rachel xx

yeah ive got all my receipts - i would have rung the tax office but didn't think they would be there on a sunday. thanx girls for the advice xx

I put all my stuff bought up to 18 months before I started full time employment. did check it with the tax office first and they said it was fine as long as I had receipts to back the puchases up. HTH

keep all your recepits for any thing for your salon, i brought things 2 years before i set up and my accountant added them in to my books, also you can claim for items that you used at college, e.g tunics, silver box to keep them in.

Wow! Does that also include the cost of training or only the kits needed?

As far as i know you can include the receipts from training, travel to training and meals bought whilst training

yeah evey time i went training i claimed for the training, and business miles, ( getting to and back training) this is 40p per mile, cause your using your own car, you need to set up a little book or a spread sheet, i do mine monthly, at its just date/ start of journey - home to training For example notthingham 70 miles and then nottingham to home 70 miles = 140 miles x 40p = -----
and this is the amount that you can claim back off your tax bill. I do this caue my accountant said that the inland revenue like to see business miles that you claim for.

my accountant didn't let me claim food as it was only a one day course but not sure if its different if the course is 3 days and you stay over.

hope that helps
