Hi Just wanting some reassurance on what colours and what technique to achieve dark to light. My client has a natural level 7 on her roots and a faded 7/75 c/touch on mid/lengths/ends. I was going to use 6/75 from roots to mid lengths then apply bleach with 3% on ends , lift and tone to a level 9 maybe with 9/8. So just confused as to how I would do this and if my colour choice is ok. Any advice would be great thanks:)

Throw a couple more colours into the mix, or it will look like bad roots :)

i did one yesterday.

normally global 12.1

put 7.31 on about 2 - 3 inch regrowth then backcombed the join (do this first ) then smooshed lol

let develop then wash off.

then did 9.31 on midlengths again backcombed where the join would be with the 12.1 and smooshed.

develop and rinse

then i decided the 12.1 needed breaking up abit so put a few really fine 7.31 through everthing . prob about 20 bits if that .

just need to be aware of head shape , parting etc and where the colours will fall

Hi thanks for your replies. Any way I can do this all in one step without having to rinse off inbetween? Will need to use bleach on the lighter pieces as I need to lift over tinted hair thanks

Can you not do a star section on top of the head?
I remember this technique years ago in my last salon.. Would it still give the ombré effect??xx

Think we must both be familiar with Loreal and Matrix then! LOL. We were doing this a few years ago too.

The thing is ... considering our replies ... isn't Ombre a bit old fashioned now?

It's seems to me that dying the roots a shade darker would just make the look more high maintenance in the long run. Personally I'd try to incorporate the natural level in the roots. Then again i can understand that a 7 might not provide enough contrast with the ends...what do you guys think?

Sorry I'm not a hair geek just looking at this because I'm wanting an ombré. I will need to strip my hair first as I cannot get the reddy look out of it from having red colours before.

Is it old fashioned now? I really want it haha!

Yeah maybe, I get what your saying!!
But it's back and more dramatic, but doing the star does give that affect doesn't it?
Blue would you just foil all the hair below the star?
Sounds a bit easier then doing all the backcombing etc... I may be wrong, but it got me thinking!xx
