Ive got alot of my clients handing out my business cards, try and make them as eye catching as possible! Check out my blog entry on creating my nail business cards.

Your website looks fantastic! I use Firefox and can see it no problem.

I live about 45 minutes from you - and I also work mobile. I don't have clients in Edinburgh (a bit too far for me!) but I sometimes get the odd call from people out your way. I'm happy to pass your details on if you like. I know what you mean about not knowing how to address the extra charge for mobile - I am opening a studio in my house, and would like to charge a bit extra if I'm travelling to a client rather than staying in, but am wary about doing it. My prices are competitive for around here, but I don't want to price myself out of work. Let me know what you decide - it will help me too :)

Definately don't be worried about saying where you're from! I'm not from here either (Canada) and people here have always been really respectful. Poland is a gorgeous country and it's people are lovely - we are lucky to have you here!

- Try offering referral cards (give them to your clients, and if one of their friends uses your services, they both get a discount)

- "frequent flyer" cards (give them a stamp each time they have a service, and when they collect 6 or 10, give them a freebie)

- Open stalls at school fetes (I do mini manicures for £5, but it gets my name out there! I give them their file in a bag with my business card and an aftercare leaflet, and get a lot of callbacks when I do this *I just use really small, inexpensive emery boards from the pound shop for this, they sell 20 for £1)

- try to hook up with a hair salon who does not have a resident nail tech to get referrals

- offer to come into schools or offices (I used to visit a local high school once a month and do the teachers nails' - I called around to see if any other school was needing and every high school for `10 miles already had one!)

Good luck!!

i have a mobile hair dresser who does mine and she charge me 6.00 more to come to me which is fine by me.my new nail person i use charges me more 4.00 to travel.

so i would charge a travel cost also.

Hi Kate,
when I first started out I didn't have many friends:cry: or a large family to show off my work so got myself business cards and headed for my local shopping centre (the bigger the better) and went from shop to shop and tell them you are starting a new home base salon could you leave some cards for the girls to put in the staff room.
I got a few new clients this way, the phone went the following morning :)
Or as said in threads before why not seek out a few people that work in retail and ask if they would like to model your nails. They get a free set and sent away with a bundle of cards to show them off and if they get you referrals then you give them something off there infills. This is were you could add a little bit of art work or glitter to get them more noticed.
Are you mad  offering free art work :smack::hug: what you can do takes skill and should be paid for or given now and again as a little treat or thank you to your client.

I think your nails are fab
hun, you just got to get out there and show them off xx

Hi i am no expert in this as I am still training but if i were you I would not advertise my prices on my web page, this way they have to ring you up and ask, you can then talk to the client sell yourself and see more of what your client wants.

I work as a professional face painter and have never put my prices on my web page and can get up to 3 enquries a day with about half of the people calling booking my services

Hope this helps x
