Hello, I just wanted a bit of advice regarding time wasters...

I have arranged appts twice for a consultation and a hair cut for this girl and her mother. The first time they were late I messaged the daughter as she was the one who booked the appts. She said she thought it was for the following week (which i told her i was away on holls) and she said she would re-arrage another time after my holidays and that her mum was going to cancle the appt as she could not afford it. So I make another appt for the daughters consultation for today as she wants colour and cut next Thursday. I reminded her on Wednesday and told her where to come as I work from home mainly. But once again today nothing.... no message nothing..... I am not a bit anoyed as I have already jiggled about her appt again to suit her as she needed to change the day from tues to thursday so I am tryin to accommdate her best I can, but feel like it's a waste of time!!! So what do I do;, what do I say??? I have not contacted her yet... she was suppsed to be here at 10.30am as I was going to pop into town to get colour products etc... have any of you been in this situation before??? (Also I don't know the girl but what I know is she is 26ys and a single parent who lives with her mum, she was living in England but moved back up to scotland recently.) Thanks for listening!! X

I don't think being a single parent has anything to do with it, granted money may tight in that situation but it's no excuse to waste people's time.
What's your cancelation policy? I'd give her a call and point out what's in the policy and let her know that she's now missed 2 appointments and you couldn't fill the spaces as she hadn't given you notice.
My mum was a single mum and if she couldn't afford something she don't have it, if it was hair related she wouldn't even book until she had the money sitting there waiting to pay for it, just wish more people would be the same.

Don't let them get you down, be tough, the only excuse I accept for no shows and that excludes them from my cancellation fee is the client is dead. Id take a deposit next time before you book her in of atleast 50% tell her you can't book her until you have had this payment and a call the day before to alter the day or cancel does not get her the deposit back, minimum of 48 hours should be enough to get her thinking. Xoxo

I think you need to make it clear that the appointment for thurs will now be cancelled , I know what some people are like , she probably thinks the consultation isnt important and will be expecting you on thurs

Always ask for a deposited and if they don't come they loss the money ..

Thanks for the replies... well I still have not herd back from her!! I spent the day gardening and enjoying the sunshine!! :D I'm still not sure what to say to her without coming across too annoyed but I don't want her to take the Pi** out of me either... I will have to cancel the appt for Thursday as I was supposed to be going to the shop to get the colour for her today! I'm not having her turn up expecting me to do it!!

I also ask for a 50% non refundable deposit for colour services x

Glad your toughening up. And sunshine? Iv had a thunderstorm haha xoxo

I used to run a 3 strike rule...it's now a 2 strike rule then black listed....never to be booked again under any circumstances as they have not turned up or cancelled with the same day as their appt! My fee will be going up to £15 from £5 for a no show! After 15 mins late I refuse to do their hair!

Mines pretty similar. They miss 3 appointments or cancel on the day I refuse to do their hair again but make them aware and it scares them into not letting you down, some people think they can take the piss and don't realise that a colour (2 hours of your time) is losing you money they assume you will fill it at last min

Thank you!! Yes I know Highlands of Scotland and Sun not something we get often so was nice to be out in the garden, chilled me out!! ;) yes gonna have to start gettting tough and laying down some rules!!! Thanks so much for the replies!! X

I just clicked while I'm on holiday that I'm in business to make money....not make people look pretty for nothing!! So I'm clamping down big time! X

We've had a client that has rang and made a appointment 3 times and never showed, she and the 4th time and they told her that if we wants a appointment she needs to pay before she comes because she's taking up space where we could fit in a client that actually wants the appointment. I think that was fair.
