Hey peoples,

Need some adivce on some Tint's

A client of mine has a base 3/0 (koleston wella) with some blonde (bleach) foils and some red/brown foils. she wants to go a few shades lighter on the base (5/0) the last time she did her hair was around September/October and has been away in the sun so she has quite abit of regrowth and sun fade.

Would a 5/0 base lift on the tint??

Alos she wants some vibrant red foils and another color put in but shes not sure as to what.

Can someone give me some advice on what would be the best thing to do and maybe some ideas on the foils.

Many thanks

Hi, Tint wont lift tint, full stop. If you put a lighter tint on youll have dark ends and glowing roots! I would use a getntle colour eraser first to lift out a bit of the dark, then foil the vibrant red ( i use matrix so red, they have a lifting agent in them for vibrant reds) then colour in between with your lighter base 5.
Hope that helps xxx

tint will not lift tint, occasionally 'colour touch' will but never 'koleston perfect' .. but for the red foils, instead of pre bleaching, look in to wella's 'Magma' range, this has red's to burgundy's to copper's to blonde's it is kinda of a coloured bleach if you will! hope this helps :)

dommy!

colour touch will NEVER lift as it is a semi they are mixed with 1.9 developer to deposite colour and tone only!!!!!

i totally understand where you are coming from, but i have many a time seen and used 'colour touch' used with h/ls put through it (koleston - special blonde) and the h/l still lifted the regrowth which has been previously dyed around the foil!!!:!:

****I just tried the magma yesterday and was disappointed. Root lifter almost neon, then faded away down the length to no red showing at all. It could not power thru pervious color.

There is just not any 'magic' colour that will lift tint. Most colour houses claim to have one, but I am always left disappointed. You still get the problem of vibrant roots and wishey-washey ends. :(

If the hair is in good condition I would do a gentle bleach bath over the whole lot and raise it to a 5/0. As you are only lifting it up to an (orangey) 5, you won't need to pre-pig and just use a porosity balancer to even out the hair and then go in with your target shades.

On a bleach bath level 5, you could stretch to a 7 level with your red, lots of mixtone and 3%. Just make sure you use a product to seal the cuticle afterwards to keep the red in. It's been a while since I used wella but if they have an equivalent to Igora 7/887 ( /red-red-copper), you will get a nice red.

thanks everone, ended up using a 33/0 for base, and a 8/34 over the blonde foils. Its actualyl looked nice. it covered the blonde and it wasnt to bright. Thanks again
