I live in westbury, ny (nassau county). I've been doing shellac for a while now but find that my shellac tech isn't doing a great job. I'm out looking for a new one. I have 2 questions:

1. What should I ask when I call a nail salon to up my chances of the nail tech being good w/ shellac? I was thinking:

-Do you use a cnd uv lamp?
-Do you use cnd's wraps to remove?
-Have any of your nail techs taken a cnd shellac course? (Not sure they're offered in this area....does anyone know?) Is it a deal breaker if they haven't?

anything else I should ask in this respect?

2. What should I look for in the salon to make sure it's a clean and safe environment when I get there? I was thinking of single use files and buffers...but what else?

Anyone do nails in my area?

Thanks for your help!

Very good questions. You can visit www.cnd.com and click Locate, then Find a Salon, on the left. This will bring you to the salon locater. Chances are if the salonn is listed, they are on the up and up.

Good luck! :)

PS: I sanitize my implements after a client and before the next one. My clients like that they see me sanitize.

Thanks for the tip! I actually used them to find a salon that I did shellac with, but unfortunately they did a terrible job... didn't use proper lamp, didn't remove all of shellac so that when I did my french you could still see the red color I had underneath, let it pool at the edges, got lint stuck on it, and many other things. Needless to say, the shellac didn't last long.

I would still love to hear from you and the rest of the community! :)

Do you know anyone who has had Shellac? I find word of mouth the best way to find a good salon.

Best of luck on your search. :)
