Hi Geeks,
I'm currently an extensionist (nails, lashes, hair) and I really want to train as a hairdresser. The problem is that I work a full time job at a local newspaper in sales and do this 5 days a week. I was overjoyed when I found out that I could do Level 2 hairdressing at my local college two nights a weel but I have just rung them for details and they say I must have a level one to do this or I have to go on the day course instead. My employers won't let me drop my hours to a four day week and I don't want to have to go out and look for a part time job as the job I do now is really well paid, I get a car and everythign. I was hoping to stay in this job whilst I retrained and paid off my credit card bill so I could start my own mobile business with a clean slate.

I really want to train as a hairdresser, does anyone have any ideas what I can do?

Thanks in advance, Caroline xx

Saks do weekend courses? If that's any use to you.

Could you not start at Level one at your local college? Assuming that the course times would fit in with your lifestyle? x

Ring them and ask them why you need a level 1, if you just need maths and English skills then you may already have those. I was under the impression that if you were able to do gcse maths and English or if you do key skills you can go straight to level 2? This is what I did with beauty but maybe different for hair? x
