Hi, we were shown how to do the hot oil, parraffin wax and salt scrub treatments yesterday, our tutor said you have to use a carrier oil and that grapeseed is a good one as we are not allowed to add aromatherapy oils because we are not aromatherapists! She sadi our clients can provide their own oil if they want?!

What other oils (other than grapeseed) can be used for the salt scrub and hot oil treatment?

Also, wheres the best place to buy a parraffin wax heater? I only want a small one and our tutor said capital did one for about £18 but I couldnt find one anywhere near this price?

Although you may not be able to mix essential oils because you are not a qualified therapist you can use a pre mixed blend.There are lots on the market.

Sally's do paraffin wax heaters or you can use a wax heater that is designed to heat both,which is what I have.You just take the pot out and transfer with another pot with you paraffin wax in.HTH xx

Are you not going to gmex?
You could make your own oil use olive oil and add your sea salts.
There is a lot of massage oils on the market and some that are already mixed with essential oils. You could use lavender or peppermint .

The trouble with using esential oils is you need to be trained in aromatherapy.

There are loads of contraindications to different oils and I would not recommend anyone who isn't trained with aromatherapy oils blending these without the correct knowledge.

A pre blended oil is good but certainly dont start buying peppermint oils etc at G-mex and blending yourself.It is not safe.HTH:)

Even if you buy pre blended oils you need to have a knowlege of the contra -indications
Especially if your client it Pregnant or trying for a baby some essential oils can harm the baby or even cause miscarriage.

i know that i think emily wants to know what she can use for manicure and pedicure. Thats why i said make your own sea salt scrub by using oilve oil and sea salts.
Also when i did beauty therapy our tutor said there is nothing wrong with putting a drop of lavender or lemon in the water to relax the client and for it to smell nice.
 
You can use any cold pressed base oil as these don't contain essential oils. There are all sorts and different ones are suitable for different skin types. Grapeseed, sweet almond and peach kernal are light and sink in easily.
Jojoba is good for allergic skin types.
Hazelnut helps to exfoliate dull skin.
Wheatgerm good for scar tissue and stretch marks.
Hemp and rosehip good for dry skin.
Coconut (needs warming as is a solid oil) good for sensitive mature and dry skin.
