Using a gel polish and a builder gel from separate brands?

Just trying to find out if its possible to mix and match gel polishes with with hard gels from other brands. Wanting to purchase Gellyfit Gel polish but they dont sell any soft/hard builder gels. Possibly Gellyfit with the ibd builder gel, what to you guys think?

As far as I'm concerned they are two different systems so yes. Most of the acrylic manufacturers don't do gel polishes and we use gel polish over these.

I'd urge you not to mix brands. If you don't adhere to a system then you are risking service breakdown.

I use shellac only. Where a colour that I want is not available in the range, I will use a pigment powder or a glitter.

No because it's not part of the official system for shellac. If in doubt, the product training is well worth it where they'll be able to help with this kind of thing.

You are not technically mixing systems doing this so it is perfectly ok to use another brand polish over a hard gel or even L & P . Once either the gel or L & P is set you will have buffed and cleansed the surface so it is perfectly ok to use whatever brand gel polish or colour gel you wish over the top .

I mix and match products all the time. I've yet to have problems, and most of the techs I know do the same. I don't think I've ever used the same brand of gel polish on a gel nail. I've always mixed and matched. I think it's fine, but I'm sure not everyone will agree.

I'd never mix within systems - so monomer and polymer ALWAYS from the same brand, and all prep liquids, etc.

However, you can put gel polish over a finished enhancement with no problems. You don't need a basecoat either.
