Using shades eq

can I tone a level 4 with a shades eq 5n? And has anyone toned with 8v+7t shades eq?

The normal rule of thumb is to tone with a tint on the same level as the hair. Using a lighter toner won’t contain enough colour pigment to adequately neutralise unwanted tones.
