hi,
I’m after a bit of advice. I’m newly qualified and I have a client who is a shade 2/3 and she’s after going shade 5RR she doesn’t want to use bleach. Her hair is dyed but well over a year ago.
I’ve advised her it won’t lift. So she won’t get a vibrant red. But more of a dark with red tint. Which she is happy with. Am I right. Or will it not even have any red? Will it just stay black/brown?
I’m using the matrix brand?
Thankyou all on advance for your advice!

If she still has dark on her ends but a natural root she may get red root glow with dark ends depending on how dark you are going to go with the red. X

Yes I was worried about that also. I was thinking to mix the 5RR with a 3. But would that work?

First rule of hairdressing is not to allow the client to dictate how to do your job. You're the professional.
If it's already tinted, you will have to remove the tint using either a colour reducer or bleach. Adding a red tint to a level 2/3 won't do anything other than give her hot roots.

Thankyou I need to stop second guessing myself

Is she wanting the red all over? If not have you looked at the sr- range?
