Wages in a salon?

Hi I’ve been working from a salon in my home for about 5 years but am thinking of going back to a salon. I’ve no idea what the score is in terms of wages. I live in Brighton and am hoping someone on here is too? I’m a bit nervous as I haven’t worked in a salon for years. What’s the protocol these days? Do I do a cut on an interview or have to present a portfolio??

In my local town there aren’t a lot of hairdressers that employ any more, mostly rent a chair agreements. The salons that do tend to pay the national living wage. Xx

Have you thought about renting a chair? You’ll be lucky to be offered more than minimum wage these days.
