Hi everyone,

This is my first post here so nice to meet you!

I need a bit of help. I'm trained in makeup and waxing NOT hair and I have had an.... Accident.

My hair is naturally an ashy blonde brown. I have highlights through it for years and about a year ago I decided I wanted to be a little bit auburn ginger. So. I went to Sally's and was advised to use 7.4 color touch. I did and loved it! I would swap between that and 7.43 and was always happy - people would generally believe me if I decided to pretend it was my actual hair colour ha!

Anyway so I went back to blonde. And I felt the itch coming and coming and so I knew I want to be red again. I went back to Sally's and got advice from the professional in there. He told me colour touch was rubbish and I need majirel in 7.4. So I trusted him and used that. So it came out a kind of pinky ginger. It was a bit blah on me. So I went BACK. He recommended majirel 7.46.

My hair is now bright red. Like an orangey red flame. I am so upset (I wanted it to be a natural look). I have to go to a work do this week and my dad's wedding is coming up.

So, I plan to try and get as much of the colour off by washing my hair with some dishwasher etc. BUT can I go and buy my colour touch in 74 and put it on the top? Or will it not hide the extreme red?

I was thinking Isla fisher kind of colour again.

Apologies for the length but I wanted to give plenty of information.

if you knew what worked for you when you want to be "auburn" why didn't you continue to use that? no one will give you any advice on here apart from that because it's professionals only anyway

I purely changed because the guy was a hairdresser and told me that majirel would give me a better result. But it's totally different. I just wanted to know if I can dye over with the color touch or if I need to find a way to cover the bright bright red.

Firstly I disagree anyone that works in a wholesale should give out pro advice in this way. He shouldn't be biased towards majirel. If he's a hairdresser he should be in a salon if he wants to colour hair and offer advice. Wholesalers are a one stop shop for hair pros not a drop in center for DIYers. It's a concern that this is going on (although not the first time I've heard this).

So my advice is go to a salon and get it rectified by a trained professional, site rules are not to give advice to anyone else but them.

Not really a hairdresser lady
