Hi, I have always been very enthusiastic in nails, nail art, painting and enhancements, I want to learn acrylics just to do on myself not as a professional. Can anyone give me any advice, I have done uv gels, they were ok just didn't last long before breaking as I am rough on my hands.

It doesn't matter if your doing then on yourself or clients you need to be trained.
You could get infections, over exposure leading to developing a reaction.
You dont wanna end up with ugly nails, get them done by a professional x

Thanks. Just wanted to know if there was a cheaper way of learning as I don't want to pursue it as a career. I want to learn how t do acrylic the correct way. Thanls

I know you want it done it cheaply, but cheap training is just as bad as no training in most cases.
All I can do is recommend sweet squared x

You should make enquiries at Colleges and see if they are offering part time/evening courses in nail enhancements and see if you can get funding for taking a course, but you really need to take a course.
Good Luck.

Thank you to all that replied. I will look into part time courses, are the 1 say courses any good.

In a word No!
You cannot learn an enhancement system in 1 day.
You would pay out for that and end up still struggling to do your nails.

Cannot stress this enough, wholeheartedly agree with this.
Even years afer proper education and practicing through the nose you will have a hard time doing your own acrylic.

I'm nvq trained but left the industry shortly after, 14 years later and I just started up again 18 months ago and did some refreshers BUT even after a one day enhancement and one day sculpting course I'm rubbish. So don't go for the one day option, I used to do fabulous enhancements years ago and thought the one day would be enough to help refresh my memory. NOPE.
There is no easy or cheap way to learn enhancements. X

I have a diploma in nail technology from NSI & also from the Scottish Beauty School and I still have problems doing acrylics on myself.
It is very very difficult of you are not trained properly and far too dangerous!
Don't take the risk.
The products aren't cheap either, and products worth using are not available to the non qualified! By the time you buy stock for yourself etc... You are probably cheaper or just as well off as just getting a pro to do them in a salon.
If you're adamant you want to do it yourself please do a course!! It is so much safer for yourself :) xxxx
