Waxing after tips - help?

Hey everyone
so I was hoping to get some advice on something..

Recently, i waxed my upper lip using those ready-to-use face wax strips by Veet. After I waxed it, there was still some wax remaining on my skin, so me being silly me, instead of using the oily cleaning wipes to remove it, i tried scratching it off with soap. Big mistake. it kind of cut my skin and made it all red and sore. I thought it would go away by the next day, but it was even more visible. Now it just kinda looks like a burn.

Any suggestions on how I can treat it or shall I just leave it?

A little post waxing oil would have removed any residual wax and then post wax cream or a little aloe vera gel..
I would apply a little nappy rash cream (sudocream or whichever brand you prefer) to soothe the skin.
