I've booked an exhibition stand at a local wedding show in October (I'm a make-up artist) but I've never even been to one as a customer before - help!

Like should I maybe offer a glass of wine or champagne to those who stop with me? I need something that stands out!

Also the lady suggested running a competition in order to get eople to leave their ideas with me, any idea here?

Sorry, I'm being a pain, lol. But thanks in advance for the advice :green:

Why not offer a prize of a free makeover or similar if people enter your prize draw? Have slips made up for them to put their details on.

You can stop people as they pass to ask if they want to enter. Getting people to stop is the hard part. You then have the opportunity to ask "when's the wedding/have you booked a make up artist/would you like to have a look at my portfolio" etc

Means you have lots of contact details to use afterwards too.

Good Luck x

Just trying to think of gimmicks for you, what about a cupcake stand and for everyone that takes one you can get them to fill in their details on a form, making sure they leave their email address.

Chocolate fountain with strawbs, marshmallows etc of course with the stack of forms to fill in next to it

Oooh the cupcakes could have some sort of makeup in icing onthe top, maybe eyes or lips or a lipstick??

Glass of wine always goes down well, you could make it look posh with a strawb or raspb in it.

Def competition for a free makeover or free trial bridal makeup.

Maybe you could have a friend that you could do a demonstration on to show people what you can do, or get someone from the crowd to work on.

Needless to say I have no training in makeup and havent been to a wedding fare for years so these ideas may or maynot work.

Best of luck, Im sure you will be fab

Love Claudia's ideas!

I would say definitely do some demos - people will definitely stop and look. And if you do airbrushing or something unusual do that too as people will be curious. Whenever I airbrush a bride I'm always surrounded by the mums/bridesmaids etc who are intrigued!

A draw for a free trial or wedding make-up is also a great idea, and perhaps you could get photos of your work blown up so people can see in detail?

Depending on the size of the event offering wine/Champagne might be quite costly. Are the organisers doing goody bags for the brides? Or you could run an offer where people booking trials that day will get a discount.

Good luck - I'll be really interested to hear how it goes. Make-up is probably my most popular service and I've been thinking about doing a fayre. Are they just giving you a table? What promo material are you taking?

If you have a laptop, maybe make a slideshow of pictures of your work, that way they will stop to look and you can get chatting with them, if no laptop print some photo's off and have a portfolio of your work there for them to look through?? good luck x
