Hiya, Ive been using wella colours on my clients and the colours that i have used such as 44/66, hasn't come out as it should have, I used it on a base 5/7 and used 6% peroxide, left it to develop for 40-45 mins, what have I done wrong??
I could just about see the violet, should I put special mix 0/66, and how much? This question may sound stupid but I have not been using wella long, still getting used to the change, so any advice on any colours, and as well as toners I would be most grateful, thanku in advance.:)

Hi there.

In theory, what you have done is correct, you used the 6% peroxide to add the red/violet tones. Or to go just a shade lighter.

But even though you are only adding the tones, sometimes a stronger peroxide is needed in order to bring out these intense red/violet colours.

If my client wanted the colour of 44/66 and her natural base was anything up to a level 5, I personally would use 9% or 30 vols.

If the result is still not showing enough red/violet tones, then you could add the special mix tones to your chosen colour. eg. 0/45, 0/65, ect ect.
I would only add these concentrates in small amounts first. Add them to the mix in centimetres or inches. You could add more next time if you needed to.

I use Igora Royal colours. but I sometimes use Koleston and find them excellent. They have a brilliant array of colours to choose from.

Hope that helps. :)

Thanks ever so much, makes sense! Will try that next time. :)
