Hello all..
Would like some input from you all please...
Today I have done a colour on a friend (55/46 slices & 5/0 on rest)
Now i did the very same colour on her about 7/8 years ago BUT the result is not how we remembered it to be ?????
Dont get me wrong it looks really nice and she likes it BUT its just not how we remembered!!
Is it possible her hair has changed?? The colour has changed? Or is it simply that our memory is not quite what it used to be???

Changes in hormones, medication, damage to the hair, products on the hair...

whole list of things that can cause a colour to not turn out the same.

Twenty-two chemicals used in permanent hairs dyes are being banned because of a cancer risk, the European Commission announced.
On the advice of an EU scientific committee, the chemical products are being withdrawn as ingredients in dyes from December 1 because of a possible risk of bladder cancer from long-term use.
This is the reason you probably won't get the colour result you did 8 years ago as all colours have had certain chemicals removed from them including
The list of chemical ingredients banned today is:

6-Methoxy-2,3-Pyridinediamine;

2,3-Naphthalene;

2,4-Diaminodiphenylamine;

2,6(2-Hydroxyl)-3,5-Pyridinediamine;

2-Methoxymethyl-p-Aminophenol;

4,5-Diamino-1-Methylpyrazole;

4,5-Diamino-1-((4-Chlorophenyl)Methyl)-1H-Pyrazole Sulphate;

4-Chloro-2-Aminophenol;

4-Hyrdoxyindole;

4-Methoxytoluene-2,5-Diamine;

5-Amino-4-Fluoro-2-Methylphenol Sulphate;

N,N-Diethyl-m-Aminophenol;

N,N-Dimethyl-2,6-Pyridinediamine;

N-Cyclopentyl-m-Aminophenol;

N-(2-Methoxyethyl)-p-phenylenadiamine;

2,4-Diamino-5-methylphenetol;

1,7-Naphthalenedediol;

3,4-Diamino Acid;

2-Aminomethyl-p-aminophenol;

Solvent Red 1 (CI 12150);

Acid Orange 24 (CI 20170);

Acid Red 73 (CI 27290).

I hope this is an answer to the colour problem.

Thank you Simba 44...i didnt realise that!

I know it's a bit of a pain as I had a client who had oak red and it was an acid colour but now oaks aren't in acid red due to the ban I'm now using mixtures of different colours to get near to what I need.

Hiya,
Do u kno if that is why wella seem to have discontinued a number of colours? Is it due to ban of these chemicals?

That's correct Lauren, they discontinued over 45 different colours, wella did make substitute colours but certain colours didn't hold in clients hair or came out slightly different shades hence enough to notice.

Thanks for the replies, it has cleared that up for me!

wow i did think the new wella shade charts were looking a bit sparse! that is such helpful info thanks for that x
