Hiya, hope you lot can shed some light on this for me? I am fairly new to gel and have only done about half a dozen sets (mostly on myself) the first couple of times everything went great, no probs, but the last three or so times they have gone pear shaped!

I dont know how to describe it, but its like the gel is 'parting' like oil on water sort of? when i take them out of the lamp there are little circles where the gel has disappeared? I dont think im doing anything differently, i wait a full minute after bonding and i time myself with a little timer that bleeps so i know they are being cured for the correct time....... Im using NSI Balance gel, dont know if that matters, and tonight was a natural overlay, but previously its happened with tips..........

HELP............ x

Hi Sherrie, not sure if this will help or not. I work upstairs in a hair salon, but up until a few months ago I worked in the salon itself. For a while I was getting the same effect, looked like an aero when you took the gel out of the lamp. It turned out the stylists were using a "shine" spray which has a high oil content (to create the shine) and the particles of oil were settling on the gel and creating these little dimples.

Not sure if this is at all related to your prob, but thought it might help you investigate what it might be.

Hi,
If you put to much pressure onto your gel brush this can result in not enough gel covering the nail plate and as the gel shrinks during curing it will leave small craters on the nail.

Hmmm.......maybe im pressing too hard then...... my hubby said it looks like paint over a wax crayon, sort of puddles. I will try not to press to hard and see if that cures it (pardon the pun) lol xx

Sherrie....are you stirring your gels regularly with a cocktail stick??

Hi Sherrie, as you know i use the same gel and i tend to find this happens if i press too hard as mentioned above use a little more product, slightly less pressure and hopefully it should be ok but i know exactly what you mean as i have had it a few times too x

No im not stirring at all.........should i be?

One more question (sorry) I broke a whole tip off cleaning yesterday, left a ridge where the gel was still on the nail above, would you have to buff this right down and start again? they dont soak off like acrylic and i need to know the best way incase it happens to one of my clients (what are they?) LOL
