Hiya

Excuse my ingnorance on this subject but I have never had the opporutnity before to work on any asian ladies nails

Untill now that is :D and this young lady is getting married and the ceremony starts on Thursday of this week with the henna painting so I have been booked for Wednesday eveing to put a set of enhancements on...

I was thinking of using Fabric but if the lady wants acrylic do I use clear - would this be more flattering than pink?

Help glady received

sorry just bumping this baby back up...

Hi Louise *hugs*
Have you asked this young woman what type of look she had in mind? Maybe you could show her some pics of your work, or other forever french nails so she can see what she might like. Also, if her nail bed is already very pink, you might want to use clear. My advice would be to just keep it simple. A nice forever french with clear and white may be in order. Also, I think Asian women tend to have small, dainty hands (my experience, correct me if I'm wrong!) make sure the shape of the free edge complements the shape of her cuticle, and that they aren't too long. If she's asking for acrylic, why not give her acrylic?

Hiya Diya *hugs* back at ya...

Defo for french finish, if she wants it ....but I dont have clear acrylic in my system so thats not an option

So thinking of recommending fabric with More than White underneath or Fabric au naturalle....Shes not worried about the system, which is better for me once I have seen her...

I am nervous this is my first bride, and I must remember to take a camera for my portfolio

I have asian skin tone and I have Forever French P&W overlays on my natural nails....looks great...I have had the clear acrylic with the white, but wasn't too keen..a bit too bland for my skin colouring. I found the Perfect Colour Pink on the nail bed is very subtle and gives my nails a lovely natural pink look against my dark skin. Hope this helps...but I suppose it all depends on what your lady prefers.

Can i just ask whats the differnce between asian people having nail enhancments to anyone of another colour?

Is there some big nail tech secret i should know about?

My brother is married to an asian women and i do her nails exactly the same way i do anyone elses whether they are white black asian or a light shade of blue.
(pink & white l&p)

Whats the differnce?

I use OPI comp 3000, they have two different shades of pink so you can help compliment a clients skin tone and nail bed.

I went to a demo day at Leeds when Samuel was demmoing and he was talking about custom blending powders bacause just using for example perfect pink it could leave the client with a bluish tinge (like 9it made them look a little cold) depending on there skin tone (if you get what i mean)

Everybody no matter what skin colour will have a different skin tone and just P&W will not suit everybody, thats when the custom blending comes in!!

I do lots of Asian ladies and they seem to prefer pink and whote powders as these make the nail plate look warmer in colour than a clear.

I will take my time and hopefully batteries permitting take a photo to show you all...fingers crossed for me please

I was wondering when i have seen Peach in coloured powders, is this mean't for people with a darker skin tone?? Or will this look weird. I've never personally used the peach so just curious.:o

Hi Louise,
Just wondering how the bridal nails went.
Havent been able to add to the thread due to time restraints on the pc ... yes my son has put a time limit on me :o
Back to the subject, Ive had a few Asian girls ask about a very intricate red & gold bullion nail on my nail art board because they said it looked like Mendhi.
Ive since put it on my class nail art board instead because I know there is no way that I could sit and replicate such intricacy on all 10 nails.
Most Asian brides having a traditional wedding that I have met, have always gone for red in some way.
So what did your bride have?
Did you nail art her ? go red? or did you create that lovely French?
Dying to know ... with pics if poss!

Hi Glo
Well they went well she was a nail bitter (but not to bad) which I have not don in a while and she was adorable and so were her family - it was such a lovely appointment.

Salma decided to go with fibgreglass and natural she only wanted them very short (just was well) and she wanted them plain for the Henna ceramony (happening today) and then her makeup artist/beautician is co-ordianting her nails to her make/outfits during the next 4 days - so I missed out there, never mind i shouldn't be greedy....

I think I will be seeing Salma again (she hasnt booked as yet but left her a appointment due card, fingers crossed) as she was impressed with the wraps and wants some tigerstripes next time aswell..

Sorry no photos my bloody digitial camera had flat batteries which is so annoying as I felt the looked really good, next time hopefully

Glad it all went well! I didnt take piccys but....when i go on hols next week i will be investing in a new digital camera to take pictures of all my masterpeices *not*!!

Well done Louise - sorry didn't get to post a reply before but for future reference I do quite a few Asian ladies and as I use the NSI Simplicite range they have 3 different pinks, 2 Clears and 2 Whites - so gives you a good range to work with. For the majority of my clients I use Ice Pink which is a very nice pale, natural looking pink comapred to Pink Veil & Pink Mask that are more cloudy - I would use these only really if the client is having just pink acrylics.

I'm sure other systems also have a range of whites/pinks that can be handy with different clients....

HTH

Thanks Tisha

I used Wraps in the end as my pink was too pink for her warm skin tones...

But converting to Creative soon so this will give me more options for L&P in the future....
