Hi, I have been using Loreal and Wella colours for years. Recently I have had clients saying that Loreal is so itchy and my mum had a reaction after having the same colour for years. I know people can get reactions at any time but with other clients not happy with Loreal I would like to change brand. I feel Wella doesn't have enough reds and coopers, I feel it's basic... What brands would you recommend? X

I am the same with loreal , so many clients are saying how uncomfortable it is on their scalp , have u tried inoa I personally love it the Reds stay vibrant and the shine is amazing only thing is the when coving stubborn white hair you need to put a lot on or goldwell I love their colour to [emoji106]

We use Paul Mitchell colour, and have done for quite a few years now, the training you get with them is excellent and the colour range is excellent too!

I do love Wella myself, but my salon uses Schwarzkopf and I have to say they're absolute top quality. They really do perform. It's a great brand and it's the only one I'd use apart from Wella x

I'm another wella fanatic. Illumina is the most amazing color line out there, hands down.

I'm pro L'Oreal but do feel they are not stepping up their game as much with colours. Inoa is a good product and the coverage is really down to the application. You really have to press the colour in due to the oil technology and lack of ammonia. Overall L'Oreal have such a good shine and condition on the hair which I like.

Wella, I love their ranges but I don't like the numbering system and find their colours too warm.

Goldwell haven't used it for years but did used to like it very much at that time.

I was having the same conversation last week with someone who rates Aveda. I've never used it but apparently you just have the base colours standard and then use mix colours to make your other shades. It's designed to be tailored to each individual which is an interesting concept.

I use Goldwell i love colorance and colorance plus for grey its woderful shiny great coverage, one problem not available at every wholesaler so have to keep a lot of stock, fantastic reds and coppers, chocolates, ash colours. Ive not had a lot of luck with toning blondes with it Tsparker got me to try illumina its amazing im a convert for my blondes. In the past 2 years I have also tried nxt, rusk not impressed at all allways come out level darker and fade to orange or brassy undertones

I love matrix I'm wella/matrix trained and have favourites in both but I predominantly use matrix

Aveda all the way! Wouldn't use anything else now!

It depends on what you expect from the color.....Farouk CHI Infra= best hilift color that eats through color formulated for lv5 or darker. Redken Shades EQ= good semi with lo acidic values for smoothing and lolites on perlightend hair, good for pre pigging with a little 10 vol and had clear coat. CHI Ionic color= best non ammonia. Aveda full spectrum= for detailed specific formula customise to the max and natural looking classic colors. Patrice Beaute 3dhd color= for fashion vivid colors. Revelon 1002 nutri color =platinum toner.

There is no the best color line as you see theres different best lines for specific jobs. You will make your own best color recipe box as you go along and try out different lines.

Wait a second, shades eq isn't mixed with 10 vol?

No its not it takes EQ developer but you can mix it with a little 10vol to open/penetrate the cuticle a bit more I have with success

To each his or her own. Shades eq is only designed to be used with it's dedicated developer. I know some really talented geeks on here who break some rules with great results though...so I'm just going to shut up.

I'm like you Tsparker I prefer using the 'correct' developer with my colours.

I always prefer human hair extension, which is last longer and gives natural looks. Human hair extensions don't damage your own hair.
