Welcome to Salongeek.

Have you had any training yet? If so, then what brand have you trained with and in which system?

Is your question about which brand to use, or which system to use?

There are many product brands and quite a few different systems from L&P to Gels, Wraps and the new Soak off Gel colour coats etc.

I suggest you do a search of thread titles (hit the search button above)and read up on some of the different brands and their popularity amongst the members and then come back with specific questions.

hi there yeah which brand to use?? nsi, edge, star, salon systems??

You didn't actually answer my first 2 questions to you :green:. Training .. have you had any and product ... which did you train with?

Hit the search button above in that case and put in products and choose the option of thread titles. You will have lots to read.

no not doing training its for myself and to do friends at the mo :)

It makes no sense to me to be performing arguably the most skilled treatment you will ever be asked to do or to risk the health of your friends' and family's nails by using products that you have no idea how to use safely.

With no professional qualification you will not actually be able to purchase the best or most sophisticated products through legitimate sources.

This is a professional forum for professionals who have had training, to ask questions and to get help. If you are asking as a consumer then I will move this to the consumer questions forum.

I'm sure all the answers you receive will be similar to the one I have given you, which is to get the training you need to act responsibly, to obtain the insurance you require to purchase good products and to do a competent job.

Im currently at college studying beauty level 2 and have had some practice in this but as im doing a full time course cant afford to do the acrylic nail course just yet and thought it might be a good idea to start looking around for products,i have purchased a hand to practice on and a couple of my close friends have asked if i could theres i would never put my friends or myself at risk!! i have explained to them that im not qualified in acrylics and its still early days so this is why im researching,I do have insurance cover as i do spray tanning and have just done an eyelash extention course this is not something i have gone into with my eyes shut!!

You DON'T have Insurance cover as the cover is only for people who are 'training' in that area or are already qualified. This was definitely the case when I was searching insurance.

i never said i had insurance for the nails i said for tanning and eyelash god all i asked was for advice on which stuff to use plenty of people do there own nails without training!!!:grr:

As you say .. perhaps plenty do. But you coming on a professional forum to ask pros advice re doing DIY is no different to you walking into a hair slaon and asking them how to colour your own hair ... you wouldn't do it and they would have no time for 'messers' nor would they advise you. So if that is what you are looking for here, advice on how to DIY for your family and friends .. then I don't think you will get it. Go and buy some stick ons from the chemist like any other consumer and have a go with them. Talk about :grr:

Yes, and they have seen the same replies.

What exactly is rude about speaking the plain truth? I see no rudeness here. I just see someone who wants to hear what will suit her, but that doesn't make it the truth or what is right. Do things the right way, or don't do them.

You are right about one thing ... you chose the wrong forum. This forum is for professionals not people who want to buck the system and mess around.

Agreed! I've personally spent hundreds on quality training and then made my own mind up by trying out different products and asking others which they prefer. You don't know 'till you try and you cannot possibly use products with no knowledge. That would be the same as someone trying to spray tan themselves, which I'm sure you are aware is virtually impossible and without proper training there would be patches of white all over the place. A little respect gets you far too :|

NSI nail course booked! and yes i do respect your comments.
