For the last 4 years I have used a company called NCI for my bike insurance and break down cover.
I started using them because they were so lovely, friendly and helpful, I added my daughter to the breakdown cover and when she went to uni I thought we had her covered for home start at York as well as home.
Last week she couldn't start the car, called the service and was told non of us are covered for home start. I rang them back and queried it, the woman I spoke to was very short with me and just kept telling me it was my mistake not theirs, I finally got fed up of her manner and asked to speak to a manager, He was just plain rude, I kept trying to tell him that I wasn't bothered who had made the mistake, I just wanted to fix it, ie upgrade the policy straight away so that it wouldn't happen again but that my problem was his and his staffs customer service skills and he kept telling me he wasn't going to have an argument with me:eek: the only one arguing was him, and three times I tried to tell him it was the friendliness of the staff that had kept me a customer and kept me recommending them to everyone and that all I wanted was that friendly manner when I had a problem that needed solving and he just kept yelling down the phone at me that he was a director and I had made the mistake not him. For petes sake, get over your self:rolleyes:
In the end I just cut right across him and said that I was going to hang up on him and wouldn't renew with his company again.
I'm not even going to bother to write and complain, NCI is just not worth the pen and paper but when they send me the renewal quotes I will just ask for the proof of no claims and take my buisness and my money else where.

I had an argument with a McDonalds supervisor a few months ago. The drive thru service had been really crap - I'm talking 20+ minutes to get through. Anywho, one night after work I waited to be served in the drive thru for about 10 mins (no, Im not exaggerating - I was the only car waiting), then when they took my order, they kid couldn't get it right. I had to repeat it multiple times.

Then when I got through to pick up my food, I ask the bloke at the window if I could have an extra sauce with my nuggety things. Then he has the hide to turn around and say 'that'll be 50c or whatever it was.

I said, you've got to be kidding, I've always been given 2 sauces before without even having to ask. He goes, 'Well I'm the manager and its been McDonalds policy for 25 years. I say 'I don't care and all the McDonalds store I've been to in Australia, you're the only person in the past 15 years who has tried to charge me for an extra sauce and considering I've been sitting in the drive thru for 20 minutes, you have the hide the ask me to pay for an extra sauce.

Then he does the whole, 'we're short staffed because someone stuffed up the rosters which is why it's taking so long and I said 'i really don't care, your staffing issue is not my problem'

Anywho, I rang the manager the next day and complained as that kid was the shift supervisor and not the manager. I told her I'd spent nearly $100 in her store that past week (I know , but I had a really busy week), and the service was getting crapper each time I go there. McDonalds is 2 mins from my house and one night that week I was gone for 30 mins - that's 2 mins there, 2 mins back and the rest of the time waiting in the drive thru. She said she'd been there only a couple of weeks and was thankful of my feedback as she was bought in to fix a few 'issues', the drive thru times being a major one and would be having words to the shift supervisor. She said she would put my name down for a free meal but I haven't been back. That was about 4 months ago.

The best thing thats happened to me at a maccy d's was going through the drive through (obviously in my car!) the young lad asked me if I would be eaing in or taking away...... erm no brainer really mate think I'll have it to go!

I have to say that i have very little tolerance for rude, ignorant people. I worked as a receptionist for years and years and if i ever spoke or treated someone the way some of these people do i would have been sacked on the spot! If you don't enjoy the job let someone else do it, that's the way i look at it!

So, i went into Tesco the other day and there was this lady on the till. I smiled at her and said hello (as i always do) and was met with a stern stare. Fine, i thought. She then started scanning and THROWING my stuff down onto the conveyor, barked at me the amount and when i handed over my club card huffed and scanned it.

While i was waiting for my card transaction to go through i asked her (in earshot of the line behind me) 'Have you had a bad day?'

She barked again 'No' .
So i said with a smile 'ah well, then you must just have one of those faces'
'What kind of face?' she snapped
'One that looks like a well slapped arse!' I took my card out of the machine, smiled sweetly and walked off to the laughs of the people behind me.

Maybe her embarrasement will make her into a better employee - but i doubt it!

Lol i wouldnt mind but the supermarkets usually the friendlier of all shops. I always end up having a good natter with the checkout staff.

Bet she was soooooo embarrased. Good on you!

I get told not to cause a scene cause I should be on my best behaviour. I did kick off outside a santas grotto a few years back because it said it closed at 6. I got their with my excited daughter at 5 and was told we couldnt see santa as the queue was closed and santa had to go home at 6!

Ok fair enough but then surely they should have said they shut at 5 so that any remaining queuers got seen and santa could leave at 6!

I asked the elf very kindly to let me join the queue and she flatly and rudely refused. I told it her it was awful and how to do it so people like my daughter don;t get excited for nothing blah blah blah and walked off. My partner had disapeared out of embarressment. It didn't solve me getting in there at that time, but the following year they had changed the rules!

Its not just customer service in shops its the customers too, especially at the minute every seems so angry and irate! I know many people have lots on their mind what with money worries etc but a smile and some politness never goes amiss.

As the saying goes a smile is infectious.

I'm sorry, but reading that was sooo funny!!

I know that some people are really despicable - god knows that i met enough of them when i was working in a Merchant Bank in Bishopsgate, so far up their own backsides!! - but we were taught how to deal with them. I really believe that's where it falls down, but having said nothing beats good old fashioned friendliness - and that should come naturally!

I totaly agree with bad customer service. I used to go into Currys alot, however one of the cashiers was sooo rude to me and treated me like s**** i have never been back!

I also used to go into a fantastic jewellary shop not far from me, again ALL the sales assistants had attitude (sp), it must of been a condition of working there as there was only one or two at a time. I went in one day after loosing an earing and wanted a replacment pair. As i took the earring out of my bag the assistant jumped down my throat stating they do not do refunds on earrings! er.. not what i wanted at all. I politly told her not to bother. The finale straw was when i looked around the store with my daughter for the earrings, my daughter chose a necklace and wanted earrings to match. We couldn't find either earrings so i put the necklace back. On the way out the assistant shouted at me, i turned around and she said, 'oh, its ok you put it back!'.
I was thankful i was with my youngest daughter as she is quiet if it was one of the others they would of gone mental at her.
Needless to say i have never been back. And the store has now closed.
