Hi guys,

Your advise is much needed, have just done a re-bal on NSI gel on my mum, she has a french finish so i used the bright white tip gel, anway 2 days after doing the re-bal her nails have gone quite yellow! On the thumbs it seems to be where the old gel is and end 3/4 of the way down the nail (ie there is no yellow where the new gel is) but on the other fingers its across the smile line. Just can't think what has gone wrong as i spent time on the prep. Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi

It sounds to me that if it is only on the old gel your mum had come into contact with something, before you rebalanced, which had stained the gel. Has this happened with anyone else that you have serviced?

Sounds like product breakdown .... yellowing.

No not happened to anyone else as yet so could well be - do you mean things like cleaners, fake tan etc Jane?

Gigi can you elaborate a bit please?

Thanks

Hi

Yes I'd say that fake tan, hair dye etc should be applied with gloves (whether you have enhancements or not).
Is your mum strict with using gloves when she is cleaning?

Gels are very dense molecularly. They do not stain easily. You can tell if it is only surface stain by buffing and if it buffs off, then that is the most likely reason.

Many (not all) gels go on curing for as long as the client wears them and discolour with age because of the UV light in the atmosphere. Some yellow very quickly and some more slowly depending on the quality of the product. The aging process (product breakdown) can also be felt in how brittle the product 'feels'. Breakages occur more frequently as the product ages and becomes more brittle.
