Hi. I'm colouring a client tomorrow who at the minute has home coloured blonde hair. Quite yellowy at the roots and lighter through the mid-lengths and ends. She wants her hair more like a platinum blonde so I'm thinking of using 12/61 as a toner but not sure which peroxide to mix with, don't want to turn it purple!
Thanks

12 is a highlight so shouldn't be used to tone in wella. From the sounds of it the base doesn't even sound lifted enough to tone nicely. I'd suggest lifting the roots first to even it out then toning. It's hard to imagine it the way youve described

My first thought was just to bleach highlight it as I usually hate the result of a full head of bleach! But seen as she's coloured it all over anyway and it's fairly light then I may as well do the full colour instead of highlights. Maybe I will bleach up the roots a bit more where it is slightly yellower (she only coloured it not even two weeks ago) and then just do a 10/8 toner. Tbh I've never used a 12 as a toner before as I know you're not really supposed to, but I've just read about other people using the 12's as toners and getting a good result.

Make sure you don't take the bleach through. I think the only reason you wouldn't do use a 12 is for highlights as it does lift the natural colour in between! Also a 12 deposits it's tone in the last 15 mins of being on an you need to leave that on 50 mins normally. :)

Yer I definitely won't take the bleach all the way through because her hair is not in the best condition anyway! Yer when I've read about people using 12's as a toner they leave it on for about 45 minutes but don't think I'll dare use it will just stick to the 10's!
