I find it almost impossible to get a smile without swiping, I think its as I was never taught how to polish and my first nail experience was sculpting. I apply base, then negligee, then apply creme puff dip my brush in calgurad (using it up before I get some d-sperse) and swipe out my smile then negilgee, and topcoat but perhaps if you used the romatique after base? (curing inbetween layers btw lol) hth xx
