Eeeeek!

My friend is getting married in may and I've got the job of doing the hair!
I've done a few trials on the girls and I think I should have it under control.
I'm trying to keep it all simple, but everyone's having different styles, curls, pleat, messy side bun...

What do you stylists do in this situation?
other styles I can do?

Thanks :)

Xxx

oh my goodness! the most iv done was 5 bridesmaids and a bride! but they were all having the same thing and it was a messy side bun (apart from the bride!)
i think i would honestly take someone else with me, even just to prep the hair if not do the final style! good luck hon!
xxx

Messy buns n curls take half a hour ull be fine get up early or maybe u could get some one to help u in ur area xxx

Hi Sarah, i normally work out my time slots for each person, then work out what time time the bride needs to be in her dress and then work backwards in time from there to see what time you need to start! If your going to the wedding too make sure you have time to get ready or get mostly ready before you start! Just be really organised with time and stay calm, you will be fine xXx

iv found this style popular recently for bridesmaids - usual base prep of curling etc, then doing a french pleat diagonally round the head, but leaving sections out to loosly pin over the pleat round into either tumbling curls or a side bun, you can then thread through diamontes/pearls also. il try posting a pic but not sure how to lol! it takes about 30-40 mins per person depending on length xxx

Oh u poor thing with 7, sounds like ur sensible doing trials so early. A small tip, do another trial closer to the date, have a printed info sheet ready for each bridesmaid to take home with spaces to fill in with something like.

On the (date), I will be doing your hair up in the style of....., to achieve this in the best time possible to fit in all other bridesmaids and the bride and keep the style looking as it does in the trials, please do not have more than .... Inches cut off before the wedding, any more off than this and the style will be compromised and may not be possible. I look forward to seeing you on the big day.

That way they don't do something silly like go for a short bob when u have been working with waist length hair xoxo

That's a great idea, my boss has told me I am doing the hair for her sisters wedding in August this is going to be the biggest wedding I've done, (15 bridesmaids an the bride)!! All the bridesmaids are having the same side buns but as some of them are little girls with not much hair, we have decided to use ready made hair buns that can be pinned into a ponytail, although I haven't done the trail yet so not sure how this will work with all of them, the bride is having loose curls, half pinned up so that should be quite simple to do, hopefully!! I nearly had a heart attack when she told me how many of them there are, anyways we will be drafting in some help as it will be impossible for me to do them all on the day!! :)

No not travellers :) however I believe you could get a lot of good business from them based on watching the recent program's x

7- you should be fine!
i live and breathe weddings and as long as you make sure you have enough products and tools and keep your area tidy when working you shouldnt have a problem!
a cute thing for little ones is french plaits starting at top one side finishing at bottom the other side and curl the ponytail. did this for seven 10 year old bridesmaids and they looked great.

Depends on the bride but i always think its nice to have something familiar about everyone whether they are having hair up or down. with either curls or plaits twists side partings then everyone is individual but also dont look totally random!
good luck you will be fine!
Let me know if you get stuck just noticed im only up the road from you!

Set the brides hair first on heated rollers then so they have time to cool, and then tong or ghd to help them last, and with the young kids defo give the parents the forms. Iv seen girls come in with hair down their back for trials then return on the day with it cut to shoulder length so then the hair had to be redesigned on the day and fingers kept crossed lol xoxo

Yeah I do, there all lovely! Nothin like the programm tho lol x

Lol most aren't like the tv portrays other than the close family values, then again, the show is doing good for their theif and robber image that's wrongly stuck to travellers.
All the ones I know are lovley and will do anything to help you out. Xoxo

I was saying the other day I would love to do the wedding hair for a traveller wedding, as they are so avant-garde with the dresses, imagine what they would like for the hair-do's!! :)

Thank you for all your replies, calmed my nerves a bit :p

And yes I'm going to the wedding too!
Argh! I'll be getting ready at 5am :p

Think I'm going to set up he night before, and have a couple of sets of heated rollers ready to go when I get there, that will be half the battle!

Thanks for all the advice, having something written down will help so much, the brides pretty simple, but obviously the most important!

Her hair is really fine, long and quite a bit of it.... What are your tips for this kind of hair?
I've put her hair up a few times, and really doesn't hold a curl well when down.

I'm still on the hunt for the best hair up products, so far I love L'Oreal Pli for spraying on before heated rollers, Osis Dust It mattifying powder.... And tigi hairspray (green bottle, forgot the name!!) for finishing as its really firm!!

I'd love to hear what you all work with!

Many thanks hair geeks!xxx

I use schwarzcopf got to b hairspray on hair up, I'd heated roller her hair, tong the odd bit after so these are locked in curls and will support the other curls, and give the hair a good spraying while in the rollers, other than heat spray don't use other product, it will only wight the hair down x

Just an update.....

WOW it all went to plan!

Ended up being 9 heads of hair!

Even with time to spare, I feel I'm moving up in my career, hair up use to be something I hated and I felt I couldn't do.

I love my job more then ever now!

Sorry I just felt I had to share my news :-D
