Hi all,

I'm in need of some advice please.
I have dyed my hair for many years, mainly box dyes, but I have had periods of going to the hairdressers.

During lockdown I decided to go from my signature chocolate cherry red, to pink. I have been using the Live Mauve Kiss and it has a lightener in it. In all the time I used the red, my hair was glossy and strong. But now my hair has severe breakage and feels like straw. I have medium long hair, past my shoulders and down to my ****'s. Some of the breakage is about halfway down. The rest of the ends are split and broken, despite having had a recent trim. So....

I have decided to go for a colour without ammonia. It will be a box colour, but not sure what colour to go for..? Also, any suggestions on a cut that will hide the damage would be great 👍

Many Thanks in advance xx

Switch to an ammonia-free, semi-permanent dye to avoid further damage, and consider a rich, darker shade like chocolate brown or burgundy. Opt for a layered or long bob cut to help hide the breakage and split ends. Focus on deep conditioning and use moisturizing hair masks to restore strength. Minimize heat styling to prevent additional damage. Be patient, and your hair will improve over time!
