Hi all
I'm doing a post on behalf of Serena Smith, a tech you might have read about in Scratch. She's been volunteering with a government-funded programme called Home Start, setting up nail art classes for families who happen to find themselves going through a difficult patch - through illness, suddenly becoming a single parent etc.
She's been working with one group of girls in particular and having got them through their foundation course, took them to do the nails of the models at the Miss Worcestershire finals last Saturday (the regional finals for the Miss England competition). I was there to see them do it and was blown away by their committment and passion for nails... they've really found something that has given them a sense of purpose.
Based on her work on Saturday, Serena's been asked to do the nails of the models at the Miss England finals but won't be able to do it unless she can find the cash to get her girls to the final, pay for overnight accommodation and find a bit of food and drink for the two days the finals are on.
The Home Start girls haven't got a penny, and Serena has given up her time for free to help give these girls a new lease of life. It would be great if we could all do our bit to help her out.
I know there are countless appeals on here for donations and I know you've all been so generous in the past, but I really do think that this one is a truly worthy cause. £1 here or a fiver there, all adds up.
If you can help, please call Serena on 07816 526 496 to find out more or email [email protected]
Incidentally, if you have any product that you don't longer need she's always looking for donations for the girls to use - anything from rhinestones to polishes. They're all incredibly useful!
Ta muchly...
