Thank you all Geeks for your replies. I have read each one and considered your thoughts. Perhaps I was being unreasonable in my pricing and this may be something I need to review regards the repaint. In all honesty, this lady caught me off guard. I realise she was upset but I could not accommodate her anyway, but got the brunt of her frustration.

Just goes to show that one is never to old to learn and that being a member of Salon Geek is like working in a salon with all of you..... bouncing ideas off eachother.

You are so right, this is the only place I can go as I dont know any techs personally in my area so its hard to know where to go for help (other than here of course) x
 
Well I cannot comment about prices as this is a very international site so tax and well living expenses vary very much, and the neighbourhood does too. If your shop is around "rich" people you are able to have higher prices, but you probably have a higher rent, so if that's what you feel is the price then it is.

About the lady, well poor you:hug: it's very difficelt to have people ringing up and being negative, and she wanted to look good at a ball.
You tried to help her, and you tried to explain prices and you were polite but you couldn't fit her in. I bet she remembers you anyway just for your helpfulness, so when she calms down, she might go to you one day to see what your services are, just because you handled her well.
 
i think its hilariouss when people think things should be cheaper because of the recession. dont people understand economics! lol! in any case i probably wouldve offered her a one time discount and found 20 minutes to fit her in (i always offer discounts to new clients on their first service anyway and i try to never turn anyone away if i can fit them in) if you make them happy they will come back!:) dont beat yourself up over it though, you cant please everone!

I think alot of us here work alone which is why the Geek community is so valuable to us. It's good to bounce ideas of each other and to be able to see things from a different point of view. :hug:

Personally I'd be lost without this site!
