I've been a qualified nail tech for over a year now. Mostly work with gels when doing extensions. But I've recently been using acrylic as well.

But my clients acrylics dont seem to be lasting more than a week without lifting.

Is it because i smothed the nail with a 240 grit buffer? Am i supposed to use a 100/180?

I don't ever actually listen to the theory of roughing up the natural nail at all I think it buggers it up .
And I use nsi attraction acrylic systems and my clients nails don't lift. Unless there is perhaps a medical or physical issue.

I think you might have incorrect wet to dry ratio perhaps. I definitely think this makes huge difference. And if you over file buff nails after you have done the acrylic I think this can cause lifting. My aim is to do nails basically perfectly then use a 180 file and run over to smooth off any shape issues and light buff and glaze n go.

That's my two cents worth.

Sure many nail techs out there have other ideas and tips with could help.

Probably touching cuticles. It’s really hard to master acrylic not going on the cuticle area. Try to watch a few videos. This one helped me a lot

Do you have any pics and what steps do you take?

No pics, but the steps i do to prep are
1. Remove cuticle/dead tissue
2. Buff the natural nail
3.Remove dust/dirt
3. apply a dehydrator
4. Apply form
5. acrylic application

Do you use a primer? I dont see primer in your steps. What system are you using? Most systems require a primer between steps 4 and 5.

I love his teachings! I can't believe I hadn't seen this vid before, thanks for sharing! I look forward to trything his technique tomorrow :D

Yes totally agree unless your monomer is specifically primerless you will need a primer. I like to keep a non acid primer for most clients and a acid based for problem lifters. Not using primer is almost certainly why you are seeing lifting.
