Hi, I'm needing some advice. I want to get back into nails and some parts of beauty, but I've been out of it for 12 years, i done a full college course and worked in a salon for a short spell. I want to do a nail course so I'm confident and learn new techniques etc. In my local capital there is two courses one using salon system acrylux and Gellux and the other using NSI acrylic and NSI gel. which should I go for?? Thanks

Hi

I had to google Acrylux as I'd never heard of it, so it seems its L&P, however Gellux is Gel Polish. NSI L&P and NSI Gel are both predominently for extensions/overlays.

You need to decide what route you want to go down, you cannot create exensions with Gel Polish, so is it extensions/overlays you want to do, or just Gel Polish - as you've been out for a while things have moved on a bit, and lots of new techs are able to run successful businesses solely on natural nail manicures and Gel Polish, however....lots of them are starting to ask about extension training.

NSI L&P & Gel are both good products with good reputations, but Capital training can be a bit hit and miss. Some Capital Stores have in-store employed trainers, some are just locations for travelling reps/trainers. If you use the search option on here you will see varying opinions on the training levels offered by them.

Depending on how rusty you feel, you may find a one-day course is not enough to refresh your skills, especially if they are trying to cover 2 different systems in one. CND for instance do a 2 day course just to train in Shellec (their Gel Polish equivalent) so 1 day for two completely different systems is likely to leave you with knowledge gaps, meaning you'll need more training = most cost.

Thanks for your feed back, yes I wanted to do CND at the local college but there wasn't enough interest so they didn't go ahead with the course :-( ! The courses at capital are two days to cover the topics. I'll maybe look into who is coming to train them, ahh so the NSI gel isn't a gel polish, thanks for that.

You've got the fabulous FingerTips CND acadamy up your way for CND training, one of the best in the business in my opinion. Check them out for quality training.

Gellux has got everything- hard gel, gel polish and acrylics. It's not the gel polish only. ;)

I've done gellux course and to be honest I am not 100% happy with the products. I am thinking to swap to different brand. I actually have done already. I use ibd hard gel I find it to last better with no lifting and its stronger. Gellux led gel in my opinion is not strong enough, you have to build quiet thick nail so it doesn't brake, but thick nails tend to lift. I would advise you to go for nsi as I've seen so many good reviews on this page.

Thanks Liene, I think I'll go for the NSI! Yes from what I've researched more therapists tend to go for NSI. :)

Ah, I'll bow to your knowledge, I don't use it, I just googled Acrylux and their Gel Polish Gellux came up as the second result. I've not seen their other range, I'm guessing that why they've called their L&P AcryLUX, as in GelLUX - a play on the brand name. Clever :D

Shame you've not had great results, lovely to see a calm, unbiased, informed review with real facts so thank you. It will certainly help others searching for answers in the future :D
