Hi everyone, im hoping someone on here will be able to give me some advice on my next venture

so I ve been doing nails and spray tanning for 5 years now and I have some very lovely loyal customers that come to my home to have their treatments....but.....I now want to or am looking into opening a salon I need all the help and advice before I go ahead with this as I don't want to go into this with my eyes closed

so if there is any salon owners that are on here that could give me some advice on what sort of costs im looking at things that I should watch out for I would be really grateful

Spend some time reading through old threads.

There's vast amounts of good advice available but you need to put some effort in finding it out. Use the Advanced tab in the search function to narrow your search field and off you go.

There's lots to consider when opening a new salon. Once, you've read up a lot more, you could then post specific questions.

This is more likely to be helpful to you in the long run than a 'tell me everything I need to know' post, which could give you lots of answers that aren't really relevant to your situation. :)

I ve been looking into it for some time looking at rent prices legal costs insurance etc just wanted to know if there was any helpful info to guide me

thank you though I will have a little browse now through all the old threads :)

Business rates are worked out by square footage...

Make sure you have about financial back up to support you in all bills and stock for about 6 months...

Set up costs...as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be - most landlords ask 3-6 months rent upfront.

There are literally 100's of threads so stick the kettle on, put your feet up s it'll make a good evenings worth of reading

Rates will depend where you are also....my local council doesn't charge any if the rateable value (square footage) is under £10k...not paid any for about 5 years now, the guy next door who's shop is bigger is nearly £200 a month 😳

Looking back I had far more money when I was busy working from home than I do now. People could look at my income and think I'm doing great but then they look at my out goings!

You need to have enough money for rent, doing the premises up, kitting it out - what looks ok at home doesn't always work well in a salon - living expenses while your whole life is going into the salon etc.

You don't actually offer a lot of treatments so maybe look at somewhere you could have another therapist offering what you don't.
