Hi, can anybody help on this pretty please xx

Simple solution.

Either be a pretty blonde and dead or value your health.
Eating is essential to living, colouring your hair isn't.

If you've already suffered some swelling, don't take any more silly risks. It could be your airways swelling next and you might not get another chance! Every year, a few people die from have a severe allergic reaction to hair colour products.

Also, have you told your hairdresser that you're allergic to colour?
They should ALWAYS do a patch test first and not colour your hair if you have any sort of reaction to the patch test., inc. highlights, as their insurance won't cover them if you have a severe reaction.

You might be ok with certain brands or colours that aren't mixed with an oxidising developer, but always do a patch test, without taking any antihistamines.

If it was me, I'd stop colouring my hair. It's just not worth the risk!

Thanks for your reply! When patch testing is done nothing seems to show?! I've even been to a dermatologist & had patches on my back including PPD etc but nothing showed then! I'm obviously allergic to something! Do you have any idea what it could be? Or what brands I could try a patch test with??
I'm happy to stop colouring my hair but it's really light blonde & ive got mousey brown hair? What could I do to help in the transition period?

I'd be guided by your dermatologist, they're the medical experts. What was their advice?

If you had a reaction to bleach, then it's not caused by PPD as there isn't any in bleach.

It could be something used in the developers. Hydrogen Peroxide is basically water with added oxygen (H2O2) but buffers and conditioners are added to the developer to stabilise it so that it doesn't release its oxygen too quickly. It might be one of these other chemicals that is causing your reaction.

The dermotalgiat wasn't sure & I'm discharged now! I don't even know how it is possible to find out what I'm allergic too anymore! I obviously want to find a solution if possible as still would like to colour my hair! Obviously I don't want to risk my life but I don't know what I should be avoiding?! And how would I grow my colour out if needed please? X

If you don't have much grey hair, you could ask your hairdresser to patch test for a non oxidative colour.
These colours sit on the outside of the cuticle layer so wash off more quickly but do not require a developer to activate them.

Forget about being blonde though, as they can't lighten the hair. You'd need to look at going a couple of shades darker than your natural colour.
