Hi all,

been away for a while so not done much posting. Anyway. I am desparate for a airbrush from Santa. I have seen a cheap 'Rio' one in the Argos catalogue and wanted to know your views on getting this to practice with, obviously not for the paying public but just to have a dabble and get the feel for ?

Anyone tried it ? Any views, or comments on a good, reasonably priced system would be much appreciated.

thanks

probably best to save your cash to put towards a more high quality product.you need a duel action brush to get professional results so if you practice with the wrong type you will not get the hang of this technique and it will be like starting from scratch when you get a proper airbrush kit.try looking on geekbay, often there is good quality second hand stuff for sale.

Hi Claire

Don't Buy It - I Did And Wot A Waste Of Money! I Spent The First Can Of Air Trying To Get The Brush To Work And Then Had To Buy More Propellant (air) And This Cost Me Another £5.00. When I Bought The Kit It Stated Tou Could Not Return It Unless Faulty And I Thought That A Bt Suspect Too. I Paid £50.00 For It And Did Take It Back Saying It Was Faulty! I Have Since Saved Up The Money And Am In The Process Of Purchasing One From E-bay For Aprox £155. It Is Worth Saving And Waiting. The Seller Has Good Feedback And I Have Spoken (by E-mail) To One Of His Customers And She Recommends The Kit Too. He Has Some More On E-bay At The Moment - Look Under Nail Art Air Compressor Kits - £20 P&p

Good Luck
Elaine

Thanks for that. I will look out on our 'geekbay' for any for sale, or maybe post a wanted ad ?

I tried the rio airbrush too, it was a laugh but a total waste of money

Hi there - I've bought kit from Folly Models too - definitely NOT a good idea to get a RIO one - they're useless! Also, I did my course in August this year, then practiced like mad on everyone and did my first paying client on 1st October. Get a decent compressor too - if you're going to be doing a lot, (I do spray tan too) then it's worth the investment, otherwise you'll only have to upgrade it.

cheers! HTH's,
TJ

Claire,

Save your money and buy a decent kit. The £50 could go towards training, which is definately worth it. Most training courses allow you use their kit if you don't have any, so you could always do that and see how you get on with it.

Speak to Melle at All Things Nails (www.allthingsnails.com) for training and sales, also Chocolate (aka Rachel) of K-Sa-Ra does both.
The Airbrush company (www.airbrushes.com) do Iwata kits. I got my Iwata kit from [email protected] - (got a better price than The airbrush co. for the same kit)

Hi

I bought a Rio kit too and it's a waste of time! I was desparate to have a go at airbrushing hence the purchase. . .used it once and decided there must be a better system to use. . . the bottle you attach to the airbrush kept twisting and loosening off, even trying to control the paint... well you can't. It's made be desparate to get " the real thing"! I agree with everyone else, Save your money !
