Well there aren't any competing salons near the one I work since most of them are NSS and appearantly no one does calgel here.

But since we're a Japanese salon, I always get my nails done when I'm in Japan. I get to learn new techinques, see new designs, new products, tools, their price range, andddddd I get to go home with fantastic nails!

No need to mystery shop in my town......£10 or £15 for a full set of L&P...
Some people like quality and some people like quantity I guess......the price war on nails and spray tans around here is verging on the ridiculous due to the credit crunch tbh.
So many good beauticians etc. are going under, it's quite sad really.

morning geek! I've been thinking to keep the old standards up etc (and it ties in with my new year resolution of pampering ME more) I'm going to check out what's hot and happening with my competitors! Is this something you do? Have done? Would do? Would you tell them you are a nail tech?​

I haven't gone to another salon for my nails but it's something I would consider doing in the future.

I have however, gone back to cosmetology school (to have a service performed and not told anyone I'm a nail tech) to see if anything is being taught differently than when I went. THAT can be an eye-opening experience in itself.

i dont actually go out and check the competition in my area but i think it can help , when i worked in retail previously its something we did regularly esp to see promotions /pricing /customer service standards etc not only that when you come back to your own salon you might also look at it in another light (as a customer) and spot little issues or changes you can make. my mind is open to change and improvement as we cant always be perfect all the time!! so im off to research !! lol
