so i have passed my manicure course, pedicure course and gel nails. I'm fine with applying tips and blending in. BUT when it comes to acrylic I'm having a bit of a hard time. I put off my exam 2 weeks ago and decided I would practice at home.

I can now put the acrylic on the nail in a resonabke manner, but am struggling with the cuticle area and side wall application.

Can I ask how long it was before you thought you had cracked it?

Thanks x

About 2 years :oops::confused:

In all seriousness it's months not weeks before you finally feel like you're mastering it, then you feel bad again because you can see all the faults now you've got the hang of it, and now it's about perfecting it.

I've been at this game for over 13 years and still feel that every set is pants and I will never get better. You are always chasing the perfect nail and the longer you work the more you train your 'eye' to see past the pretty and look for the faults. No matter how good a nail is there is always faults if you look hard enough. It's the eternal stuggle of a good nail tech.

Keep plugging at it :D

A good technician always the bad and the next one will be better than the last. Perfectionism.

For cuticle and sidewall application this is a fantastic video from Greg Salo
